Elisabeth Sladen, a star of the "Doctor Who" series and children's show actress has died. She was 63. The BBC says the Liverpool-born Sladen died from cancer on Monday. Sladen joined the broadcaster in 1973 as Doctor Who's assistant Sarah Jane Smith, opposite Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. WoW Time flies.

Sad news but she will be remembered for many years to come for being a great companion for The Doctor.

Personally, I especially enjoyed her opposite Tom Baker.

Hopefully, we can remember her through those of us that have the Doctor Who DVD sets!

RIP Sarah!

She was my favourite assistant of them all, and the hottest!

Sad day for sure. I think I`ll watch Genesis of the Daleks tomorrow.

RIP Elisabeth-- thanks for the hours and hours of entertainment. Dr Who was the beginning of my wondering. or was definetly an influence. I loved that show. Havent caught much in the latter years but thought Tennant was excellent when I have caught the odd episode.

RIP Liz. This woman positively oozed class and humor. I had no idea she was 63! Definitely a sad loss for her family, friends and fans. But she lives on through the archives and the fond memories of our youth as she entertained us.

She had actually made a very successful come-back in a Dr Who off-shoot for CBBC, The Sarah-Jane Mysteries. And most excellent it was too, I watched it with my son, he'll be upset when he hears she is dead. Who is going to defend the earth from all the malignant alien attacks, pan-dimensional entities and rogue meteorites now? I must think about that one, as it will be asked of me... And what'll happen to Mr Smith? And the 'Lipstick'? And, poor Luke? I think I'm taking this far worse than my son will. It is a very good kid's show though, in my defense.

She will be greatly missed, but nice that she got to go out after she had made it back up to the top. So to speak.
