EU takes step toward possible Libya military mission

BRUSSELS - The EU has outlined a provisional plan that could see European troops sent to the besieged Libyan city of Misrata to protect aid deliveries if requested by the United Nations, EU officials said on Monday.

The 27 EU states agreed at the start of this month it would be willing to launch such a mission if the UN asked for it, but the world body has yet to make such a request.

So.. how long before the US goes in too to ``help our European allies``? This is way too obvious...

And of course it's ``just to protect aid supplies`` YEAH RIGHT.

Yes it is! This is exactly how it is until you prove beyond all doubt whatsoever with undeniable proof from reliable and unbiased sources (That means no PressTV, Debka or any other conspiracy sites etc etc). Instead of coming with material like "YEAH RIGHT" show some real proof not just your personal opinion. It's shows there is nothing of any academic merit to your point! Every time to post you are bagging either the US or the West. Everything is not a conspiracy. There is a word for that. It starts with "P". For people with your condition it can now be managed clinically! hahahahaha!

The EU are big boys now. They should be able to handle this themselves.

Wasn’t Somalia about “just to protect aid supplies” and UN humanitarian assistance? And look what a fiasco that turned out to be once the politicians started putting their fingers into the pie on a daily basis.

I do believe in helping our fellow man in times of dire need by the way. I was all for going into Darfur to stop the genocide, which the UN and US failed to do. No resources to exploit I guess and gosh darn it, to expensive, no return on the investment.

Libya, meh, not so much. I don’t think there are good guys on either side. Let them hash it out and then we’ll see where we stand.

That's a bit unfair, he quoted and linked to the original article and then made his personal comment underneath, which is pretty much the standard accepted way of making a post on ATS

I pretty much share that same feeling too, while in Bahrain they are being slaughter while the UK and US back it we have this Libya scenario playing out and it's BS. Whatever happenned to no boots on the ground? Of course when they said that though there already were troops on the ground in the form of US, UK, French etc etc operatives stirring up and training rebels made up of terrorists we were once fighting and other non Libyans!
