Mubarak's arrest a watershed moment for Egypt

www.latimes.com

But that all changed Wednesday, when authorities here confirmed the detention of the former Egyptian president and his two sons, a move immediately hailed by many as a surprising but shrewd step by the ruling military council to calm protests in the world's most populous Arab nation.

Interesting turn of events.
The ruling millitary council has succeeded in quieting the mobs for a while. The story says some planned demonstrations have been canceled because of this move.
This is strange because previous stories had the sons hiding out in England and other places of safe haven. Would they be so stupid as to come back to Egypt on their own or does this indicate they are not traveling under free will?

This is a lie, where is the photos of him in handcuffs, or them being taken to custody, to detention. It is all lies to slowly break the moral and hopes of Egyptian people, very slowly. They want the Egyptian people to give up. The military elite is trying to say that they are not pro-Mubarak, when Mubarak was part of that military elite for decades, and the military also took part in their own torture through own Mubarak's rule, actually since the beginning when the same elite tortured thousands of Egyptians to death.

I don't believe a zilch of this story, I think the US/West gives the Egyptian military creative ideas on how to clamp down on protesters. They already banned public protests. This is the same military which US bought whole sale, billions of dollars every year.

No change will come yet, until all Mubarak stooges are punished, and military elites are either hanged, or kicked out of Egypt.

A side consequence of this is that other despots like in Yemen and Syria will be highly unlikely to ever step down peaceably like Mubarak did after seeing him being arrested. This increases the chance of their forces killing more people in the streets as they hang on to power, which increases the likelyhood of a UN intervention.

The MSM is carrying it albeit CNN has it burried on their World page halfway down instead of headlining it.

There's no recent pics there just old file footage. The reports from these sources are unreliable.

They are all merely reporting what the Egyptian Army told them, they haven't investigated the findings, they haven't seen Mubarak get arrested, nor his sons. They are merely reporting what the Army said.

This is ridiculous. It was ok when they reported Mubarak was stepping down but not now that he was arrested?
Are you still waiting for Mubarak to step down from power because you didn't believe the news back in March?
Do you believe your obituaries in your newspaper because only the coroner says so and he works for the state?
What a bonehead.
Theyy announced a date for his hearings, if he's not produced then the millitary just created a timebomb that will blow up in their faces.

Well since you like name-calling and it hasn't been removed by the mods then it must be permissible for me to call you an idiot who calls people names because they don't believe media reports... you have a suitable avatar.... once you start mixing name calling in your debate or discussion then there's really no reason for me to reply with an opinion regarding the subject matter except that you're a fool.

None of your denials change the facts that Mubarak's two sons are in jail and Mubarak is arrested.
Stubborness is a friend of ignorance.
