OCHOPEE, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Bigfoot mating season is underway in the Florida Everglades and the furry, horny creature is out for blood. Dave Shealy, an RV park owner in Ochopee, Florida, is the leading researcher of the Skunk Ape, Bigfoot’s “smaller, smellier cousin.” He says there are seven to nine Skunk Apes currently living in the Everglades and right now is the best time to spot one because it’s their mating season. Lately, he’s heard lots of campers report strange sounds coming from the swamps. He figures it’s the Skunk Ape’s mating call, which sounds like a low-pitched dove cooing. Though Skunk Apes are generally shy, Shealy says women on their periods should be careful when hiking the area because the cryptoids are attracted to the scent of menstruation. They’re also aroused by used lingerie, so female campers shouldn’t hang their panties out to dry because, in his words, “That’s like raising a flag and inviting them in.”

This explains how a small town might need this sort of publicity ot survive so we might take Daves reporting with a grain of salt but I have heard these s tories from other people. Upon the way, we passed by the smallest post office in the United States. Zip code 34141 is well served by a former irrigation shed from a tomato farm.
Today, it holds one employee and all the mail for those living along "Tamiami Trail."
It's a great photo stop.
The postmaster inside said on average 300 people stop a day for photos and stamps (I find that hard to believe).
However, we did find a group of Ohioans who stopped and confirmed, they indeed saw a skunk ape down the road. We left in search of the Skunk Ape Research Headquarters.
It's here that renowned researcher Dave Shealy studies the beasts... and manages a campground. Our Garmin GPS had a hard time finding this one.

"We were on a camping trip at the north end of Turner River, off Alligator Alley, when I saw what looked like bear tracks with four toes," said Williams, extending his hand and tucking in his thumb to demonstrate. A few moments later, he said, an apelike animal ran in front of his father's jeep, leaving Williams stunned and forever convinced that something is out in the swamps.

I don't know about the Skunk Ape? Anybody else see Wild Things? Sounds more like something made up - but maybe Bigfoot does roam somewhere..
Many theorize UFO occupants are robots for humans of the future, ultra-hybridized weaklings returning to gain purer DNA from the more ROBUST MAN OF TODAY.
So it might work in reverse. Rather than taking human DNA maybe Bigfoot is being dropped from somewhere else (because he is a predecessor of man) - to fortify our dna.
If you figure that they for sure dropped a girlfriend, so there is a cave or hollow or hole somewhere they live. She probably has them moving to a bigger place every few years so we should be able to spot them, carrying their stuff!

These are good Bigfoot threads started recently here on ATS in the past. Urge you to visit these if the topic is interesting. I fish in the keys and drive through the everglades on occasions so I have heard people talk like its a myth -one people believe.

I was glad it wasn't an X-rated bigfoot video. The girls in the article said the skunk ape had a 12 inch weiner! I would've hid in my room for days at the sight of something like that! Ron Jeremy, WATCH OUT, here comes Bigfoot!

Thank you for the correction . It doesn't always come out the way I intend it.
The story does sound like it would be a great Idea for a Porn flick though, doesn't it? Bigfoot casually walking through the woods to take a poop when all of a sudden he hears splashing in the nearby river. His curiosity gets the best of him and he finds two beautiful, full figured foreign women in bikinis fishing and having fun...

It seems to me that since he can't get funding he should do the next best thing. If it is actually mating season and if the skunk ape is attracted to menstruation then wouldn't it be safe to say that if you put out a menstruation sample(gross I know) with a hidden camera chances are the ape would come to him? One call to the Florida Animal control could get you someone who is experienced and qualified for tranquilizer darts. Build some sort of blind. What gets me about bigfoot and skunk ape research is that the cameras are put up for a day or few but not left in place for longer points of time. I mean you can go to walmart and buy for $20 a door cam with infrared and connect it to a computer for permanent observation. So much can be done with little money yet it isn't being done. Why to keep the "Legend" alive rather than prove it? Trust me if I lived in an area that had a "Legend" as such I would find a way, money or not.

No wonder my wife wanted me to visit the Everglades, I guess it's her mating season. Yes, my wife is a BigFoot and was abducted by aliens too.

Growing up in South FL, I lived pretty close to the everglades. Family and I would go camping as well at parks and vising them...I've never seen it. Though, as a kid I was curious of it's existence(not knowing of the Skunk Ape locally, but the Bigfoot in other parts of the country) and how close it might really be. Gators were more of a threat while camping.
I no longer live there, coincidently(maybe :p), move to an area of the country where the lore is even bigger than that of the Skunk Ape.
I've enjoyed the local lore here and want investigate high sighting areas.

is literally the most chilling and realistic bigfoot story i have ever read. and i've read a stupid amount of them. there are lots of posters who use ats to be silly and only make joke posts, or go out of their way to say something stupid to be funny in a topic. so if you haven't read it, you should. i know it's fun to be casual and off topic on here, but its kind of pointless to be honest, do it on another website, i really care about how people perceive ATS.
