Why Are The MSM Talking About Earthquake Lights So Much?

OK, I don't know about the rest of the world but here in the UK, the media is a buzz with strange lights at the time of the recent Japan earthquake.

Now, I am almost 100% sure that the light was a transformer station blowing out. However, the MSM wants you to believe that the flash was an Earthquake light...

Why is this? Thoughts please...

I agree.The videos I've seen of "earthquake lights" look like rainbow formations in the sky.The "light" on the Japan earthquake video looks absolutely nothing like that whatsoever- it looks like a transformer substation shorting out (hence the power going out immediately after).
Substations and transformers going down happens all the time.Last fall some numbnut hit a telephone pole a block from my house with a transformer on it.Heard the explosion then no power for the next 9 or 10 hours. It's really not that a big a deal.So I agree with you- why don't they just say it was transformers? (Unless of course-it WASN'T- and "earthquake lights" are the only cover-story they can think of that they think people will swallow......)

I'm in the UK with SKY news on and haven't heard anything about this.

Hopped over to BBC and still no mention.
