Where to see the Mustang? (Wild Horse)

Heeey ya'll!

So, in a few weeks it will come true: a three week road trip across western USA.
How sweet isn't that!

There are a few mandatory stops on the way.
My girlfriend wants to see: Vegas, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and she is also hell-bent on seeing some mustangs out in the wild.

Now, we've been prowling the internet and the "real" world, for tips and hints for where to go to make absolutely sure to catch a glance of these magnificent animals.
A very nice and kind ATS member- projectvxn has come with what he considers a safe bet: the Reno area (or as he claims; 100 miles East of).
Me and my woman are both very happy for this tip and we will surely look it up.
But, one tip will not do for reconnaissance! I need input from the rest of you guys!

Please, do tell us where you've come across the galloping hoards, roaming the open plains in all their freedom loving libertyness...

Seriously though, I would appreciate any info a lot.

Look into the Ghost Forest of Alberta, Canada. The wild horses there are a sight to see.

I've seen wild mustangs out here in Arizona on an indian reservation east of Phoenix. I have also seen them plenty of times on the route between Phoenix and Tucson.

I do think most of the mustangs in the southwest are on reservations, and you have to be very careful about stepping into reservations.

As I said in the other thread, if your gonna be in Arizona, go to Sedona.

Northern Arizona also has some elk to see.

If you want to see mustangs head over to Oklahoma they have some of the largest mustang preserves or ranches in the US here's one for you to look up on, thechoctawranch.com... another one I think is called Black Mountain mustang Preserve or something like that, it's in south eastern Oklahoma and was the place where Hidalgo got most of it's horses from for the movie.

We saw plenty of wild horse, mostly in Nevada.

Trip report will be composed when I am done renovating and moving to a new apartment (in other words; it will be posted rather later than sooner...).

We saw plenty of them. Mainly in NV and AZ.
