As PureET says, it appears to be a Long duration flare, barely a C class though and is dropping.

I checked SOHO, and they are still only displaying 04/02/2011 pics.
This looks real serious. Even if it is not Earth-directed, this event appears so massive, we will feel something.
An increase probability of 6+ magnitude earthquakes/volcanic activity will be possible in the next 48 hrs.

Thank you so much for sharing this info. It is well worth watching.

Thank you for the OP. Actually the flare IS directed towards Earth.

This is how the "Ahead" - A and "Behind" B satellites are located:

The Coronal Mass Ejection looks quite big , i guess we will start to see the effects on sat readings in the next 12 hours.. but it is not the end of the world (yet).

Can you explain this picture further?

Planet X?

Two earths?

O, this is the position of the two satellites providing the magnificent pictures
. The satellites are orbiting around the sun, and A + B are the two positions where the sats are located. Then imagine if you are on the point A or B taking a picture towards the sun : the earth is on the left side if you are on the position A (Ahead) and the Earth is on the right side if you are on the position B (behind satellite). This way you can figure out if the CME is directed towards Earth ..

That's going to be fun.. Yes it is just a C but imagine this: this is taking hours to drop.

And I'm guessing this won't be the last LDE we are going to see.

Think about what a X-class LDE can do.

That's funny, where did that come from?

I didn't know planet x was a NASA satellite?

I find it extremely suspect that Spaceweather.com is not showing anything about this, especially if it is another huge LDE. It is at least worth a note on their web page. Also there is no sign of it on the NOAA alerts page. (Unless it is that single asterisk in the electron flux section?) What gives?

Yes I have noticed that, I come on here, and see evidence of threads stating incoming cme's, yet when I visit the site, no info nothing, normally they are screaming it from the rooftops, this is very unusual activity from them (well in the last year anyway).

Can anyone shed any light ??

Probably the same reason the radiation monitoring sites "went down for repairs" when the readings started getting really high, they don't want us to know/panic

Awe, how cute! A little baby C class flare.

Very interesting. Looks huge to me too. Something to keep an eye on, and plot against any other anomalies occurring now plus three days.

"could this cause a pole shift?"
a blast of this sort would not
way way too small
that said, there is really no telling what the sun is capable of
"scientists" are really only guessing when it comes to what is sun is capable of
could a solar flare or CME cause a poleshift?
i would have to say YES MOST DEFINITELY
blasts like this happen fairly frequently
and most are not geoeffective(facing earth)
when the big one comes, we (earth) won't have much warning
the TPTB certainly won't be warning the general population
it is the folks like those on sites like this that will sound the Clarion call
keep up the good work
