I want to give something to help Japan but I don't know to which organization to donate. What's a good and reputable one? Can I donate to a Japanese one directly?

Thanks and I recommend you do the same.

I don't mean to sound like I don't have a heart but isn't japan one of the richest country inn the world per capita? why would you give money? I wouldn't send money but I would send actual things like blankets, tools, supplies and food. I have grown very leary of sending anything monetary to anybody but if you can send real stuff you can assure nobody just skims the money and keeps it. I have read a few studys on charitable orgs that only send 10% or less to the actual people in need. The humane society and united way are just two of the charitable orgs that I am refering to.
