At the bare minimum, could the flashing ones be removed? I feel like I am going to have a seizure every time one loads.

Understood. Though it sounds like these ad engines and the companies who run them might need to be more responsive to the wishes of the people who run their ads and keep them in business, It wouldn't be that hard to devise some sort of checkbox filtering function that a site could use to opt-out of certain ads for moral, ethical, conscientious or political reasons. In fact, I betcha some do have them because I'm sure I've either read about or seen them.

It's an issue of scale.

The last time I looked (about 3 months ago), there were over 11,000 different ad campaigns and 1,700+ different advertisers that hit ATS during the previous 30 days.

I understand this from your perspective. It's a lot to "look" at. But issue of scale or not, it's still a relatively simple issue to address with a bit of planning, revision, and thought. Using a database for their ads with proper categories and subcategories, these ad pushers could provide their customer (you in this case) with a way to filter and tailor their product (the ads). But they won't do it unless the customers ask for it because they probably don't care. They making enough with their "scale." Let's just hope porn ads don't start popping up one day. Have seen that happen on some sites, but I'm sure the engines and providers you've chosen are above that.

Why is Monsanto advertising on ATS?

I don't know.

Maybe they like to put that kind of stuff right in our faces.

It's not like we're being brainwashed by it, right?

I mean who cares about the advertising?

Wow, I'm feeling a strange peace now and I believe I want to go buy some seeds.

Let them pay to put up this web site so we can spread the word about how evil they are.

Personally I love it.

Those are 100% wasted advertising dollars.

That is sort of odd though, are we going to be buying their GM seed? We aren't farmers...

We could mash their seeds up for a great algae pond... turn that into renewable fuel.

If ATS were really to put emphasis on filtering adds where would they draw the line? What portion of the industrial sector is innocent of any wrong doing? How simple is it to determine all the activities and practices a company engages in?

I don't think any of that would be easy. I know that I unwillingly and perhaps unwittingly support the PTB every day with purchases I make in spite of my caring about the issues.

I know Monsanto is one of the worst of the worst, but if your are going to allow the rest to advertise as they will, then you might as well take Monsanto's money while you are at it.

ReadyPower, if you are serious about denying ignorance, and taking power away from multinational companies who cause harm to humanity either directly or indirectly, then I advise yourself, and the other members of this site to put down your keyboards, and back away from your computer terminals. And your TVs. And cellphones, and microwave ovens, fridges , freezers, alarm clocks, and all modern, chip or battery carrying articles. In fact, just avoid using any technology made in the last twenty or so years.

In all the mentioned technologies, and more besides, you will find minerals which have been mined from countries which are in conflict, and your interaction with, your purchase of, and continued use of these items pays for the death and suffering dealt by despots and fanatics, to the weak and vunerable in thier societies.
You know of course of the idea of conflict diamonds? Dictators and psychopathic third world leaders dig up a few million in diamonds, buy guns and men, and go a rampaging and killing to serve thier blood lust with the proceeds, and since that became known there have been crackdowns on it, and buying such things is now a shady business, rather than common practice.

However, where the minerals found in the battery of your cell phone, or the components on your harddrives are concerned, there is virtualy no restriction placed upon these, due to the fact that the technology market would fall apart due to the inability to cheaply produce basic components. Our need for accessible, affordable technology, has payed for the deaths of potentialy millions of people over the last ten to fifteen years, and yet we worry about Monsanto adverts? I take it you see the irony?

I would also refer YOU to the post above yours, since you seem so angry about this issue.
