Dreams and Alternate Realities

Something I've been thinking about with all the discussions of Deja Vu, soul, etc. etc. What if when we dream we are actually living out an experience that happened to us in another reality/dimension? Now of course some dreams really wouldent make sense because what happens in them is way to unbelievable but then again we never really know - maybe in another dimension we are Mudokens (The green dudes from Oddworld) and we are slaves to the evil corperate creatures, but I highly doubt that. This could possibly help the reasoning behind why we have deja vu - we have a dream that has us reliving something that happened in another place/time and then when our current pyshical (when we are not dreaming) reality catches up with the alternate one we experience deja vu. It could also explain why some people have visions of events that will happen in the future - maybe the alternate reality follows the same path as ours but is going minutes/hours/years faster so we can see the events play out in our dreams as they happen 5 years from now (since maybe our mind is both the same counsines sp? in both realities)... What are your theories/ideas?
