Large Plant Fire in Mont Belvieu

MONT BELVIEU, Texas - A fire has been reported at a petrochemical plant in Mont Belvieu, about 35 miles east of Houston.
The fire was reported at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Enterprise Products facility. According to its website, Enterprise Products is a petrochemical company.

Another petro plant on fire. This is why I don't live in Houston..lol

Seriously, though, it is currently unknown if there are any injuries. These have the potential of being very bad for the locals and employees.

Let's hope this was not a malicious act.... most likely it was just faulty hardware or sloppy procedures, though.

That's a big ball of pure fire. That facility is apparently an MTBE production facility - the fire ball was so hot that trucks nearbye exploded from the heat. Awesome. Hopefully they can figure out how to shut it down.

Apparently, this is just natural gas liquids burning. This is a storage facility rather than a plant. They are trying to turn off the flow of product to the storage facility. Only one person unaccounted for, but there is indication that he left the facility before the explosion.
