With so many animal deaths it's kind of exciting to see that a new specieshas been found!

Here is a pic of what is believed to be a new species of African Wolf

The researchers have proved that the mysterious animal, known as the 'Egyptian jackal' and often confused with the golden jackal, is not a sub-species of jackal but a grey wolf.

The discovery, by a team from Oxford University's Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU), the University of Oslo, and Addis Ababa University, shows that grey wolves reached Africa around 3 million years ago before spreading throughout the northern hemisphere. The new wolf is a relative of the Holarctic grey wolf, the Indian wolf and the Himalayan wolf.

Looks like a jackal and a wolf got lonely on a cold winter's night

But yes, it is cool to see new species coming about.

Peace,
spec

Looks like a jackal/fox combination.. nothing like a wolf. But then again I am no zoologist. It took me a while to accept the fact that whales aren't actually fish.

S & F

I would love to see more of this animal. I wonder if it could be the basis for the legendary Set animal simply because of the ears. Anyway speculation aside. It just goes to show how successful wolves are as a species.

I also wonder how big it is? I don't suppose it isd in the 100lb plus that the American wolf weighed in a recent thread!

I searched for more information on it and couldn't find anything. What is the "legendary set"? I have never heard that phrase and would like to lok into it.

My bad. I just wondered about the animal representation of the Egyptian diety Set. The "Set animal" has been suggested to be a donkey, an aardvark, a jackal or a wolf. It has also been described to be an extinct animal.

this just means white people just found out about what the locals probably knew about for many, many generations.

To me, in my uneducated opinion, looks like a simple coyote.
