A de-stabilised Egypt benefits WHOM ? It is a worry to Israel, an Opportunity for the the Muslim nations to 'affect' the West and it's power base. Provide anexcuse for militaary intervention and therefore a 'Presence' ?

I'm reserving judgment still. The only thing that I'm pretty sure of is that the US (or some in the US to be more accurate) probably were none too thrilled with Egypt's support of Iran.

I wasn't aware of that support........ maybe more pressure from within Egyptian politics looking to move East towards Iran and away from the West..... At 82 Yrs old mubarek is probably seen as getting towards the 'end of his term' and younger politicians probably want in on the action....

I still can't see how America thinks it will gain unless they are orchestrating it from within and trying to guide it to a decent outcome.........

As mentioned before.......... America's interest here is Suez access, war on terror info and military presence and support..
