Maybe it 's time to go. Maybe, finally, they understood that SPACE is the New Frontier! During the State of the Union address on Jan. 25, 2011, President Obama aim to Space for the next economical grow in USA.
Seems that finally the Obama's motto "Change, yes we can" became real!

Obama likened America's current need to advance research and innovation to the famous race between the United States and what was then the Russian-led Soviet Union for supremacy in space exploration.

"We’ll invest in biomedical research, information technology, and especially clean energy technology – an investment that will strengthen our security, protect our planet, and create countless new jobs for our people," he added

NASA chief Charles Bolden promptly said the space agency is ready to do its part.
Bolden compared Obama's speech to John F. Kennedy's in 1961.

"Tonight President Obama delivered a powerful State of the Union message to the nation," Bolden wrote in a blog posted on NASA's website late yesterday. "His focus on innovation, education and building are the foundations for our future success as a nation – and the key to economic recovery and long-term fiscal stability."

"We're making contributions in all of these areas," Bolden wrote yesterday. "Tonight's message of opportunity and inspiration will guide us as we reach even higher, building a better tomorrow and ensuring that we win the future for this generation and generations to follow."

"The last time that NASA was referred to by name in a State of the Union address was more than two decades ago, in 1989,"

When will we have the Global Space Program we deserve...?
All this childish chauvinist crap is getting in my nerves...........
Let's just DO IT, and GO THERE for pete's sake....

But off course, evolution and unity doesn't bring profit...
We are ruled by the Ferengi it seems

Sure they want a space program that you Americans can't afford while the walls of your country come crumbling down.
The politicians are looking to space as their only escape leaving all us lesser miscreants behind in a world that they screwed up.

Then when we are all dead, they will come back to a paradise on Earth that they don't deserve.

Sorry, I just got out of bed.

Thank you.

We can afford it. We have the labor, the science, the resources. We have everything we need except a society that values progress more than profit, as Drakus explained above. We will never reach our potential as long as profit and money determines outcomes.

This will probably never be achieved because Obama is pushing to privatize space. But corporations are mostly unwilling to invest in space-based ventures because they are very risky and unprofitable.

What you need to do is point out the profits to be made from space exploration and see if there are any takers. Take the moon for example. It's primary sources of revenue could include:
- Water from ice
- Helium 3 from soil
- Precious Metals from buried asteroids

The ice found on the moon provides a limited market but can be used to provide drinking water and fuel.

Helium 3 (if it can be extracted) can be used in the research of next generation nuclear fusion systems. And then as fuel when these systems are fully functional. It could potentially be the next high demand fuel source, next to oil.

Precious metals like gold, platinum, nickel, and even diamonds can be found in the millions of asteroids buried beneath the surface of the moon. It is fairly obvious to see where the profit is there.

Yeah, GMC - bailout - new plant to build engines for US vehicles.
