Downplaying the significance of these arrests now as merely a union related extortion racket over 3 decades is a wise move.

First minimize the Mob, and limit the scope of the alleged crimes... Later on make it ALL go away.

They all live happily ever after.

People joke about the "mob", make movies about the mob, glorify the mob, and misrepresent the mob. They should really learn about the mob, and how the biggest one (our own government) operates.
Really, imo, there is not a more effective way to conduct business than to own the federal courts, for example, and most are owned by mobsters of one variety or the other.
Look at Bill Clinton. How did he rise to power? LBJ taught old Bill everything he knew.
The mob isn't going anywhere, because humans by and large are powerless in the face of organized and ruthless criminals.
