Advice on being an interpreter

I am thinking of becoming an interpreter and I was wondering if anyone here has any information on it, I do not really know where and how to start because most websites have a lot of them being in the job for a long time.

I would also like to ask if I need any kind of degree or something besides language learning.

Education will always make you better off - but it really comes down to rarity of the language. \

Do you think the more languages I know the better it is? If I can learn them all well that is.
