Four US soldiers die in attack

INSURGENTS fired mortar rounds at a headquarters used by US troops and Iraqi forces in the city of Samarra today, destroying the building and killing four US soldiers and one Iraqi guardsman, the US military said.

A fifth US soldier was unaccounted for and 20 others were wounded in the 10.30am attack (local time), said Major Neal O'Brien, the spokesman for the 1st Infantry Division. US troops secured the area around the collapsed building.
