Dunno if any of you saw this article today, but I thought it was interesting. It discusses phytoplankton (a plant) and how it gets whipped up by hurricanes. The cool thing is that it absorbs greenhouse gases (or some of them anyway).

www.msnbc.msn.com...

Idea 1: Harness these plants on a large-scale basis to remove greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere on Earth.

Idea 2: Find a way to get these plants to work on Mars. I know that Mars has a harsh environment, but there has to be a way to get it working.

What we need to do is pollute mars to the extreme level, so an atmosphere will form and sunlight will be trapped inside. Then we'd need vast fields of genetically engineered plants to turn the Co2 into oxygen.

I'm sure these plants have some kind of terrible side effect
