This idea really bothers me

Why are most human fossils from the past found in caves?

Did they live in caves? but how does that differ them from people living in caves today?

Past

Present

Why are most human fossils from the past found with simple tools?

Were they stupider than us? but how does that differ them from people today using the same tools?

Past

Present

I will leave you with this question:

Have we really advanced? or do we enjoy such a history, a history which portrays our ancestors as stupid animals? Is it arrogance?

I believe that althrough we have advanced quite a bit over the last few hundred years we are a long way from advancing to a more advanced civilization. Instead we are evolving slowly as a race eventully through over hundreds and thousands of years we will become a more advanced and intelligent civilization and we could be well spread out across the stars however, there could be a possibility we could of killed ourselves by then.

We probably like to see ourselves as "having progressed" from those times, when really, the only thing that has happened is that everything became amplified. Tribal warfares amplified into global warfare, tribal systems of rule amplified into global systems of rule, tribal hunting amplified into systematic hunting of animals. Nothing is really "new".

In the case of the cave, we simply managed to find a way to create our own caves, and thus came about the creation of houses.

Very cool thread - And WELCOME TO ATS!

The world is filled with strange and beautifully amazing people(s).

Honestly, it's my opinion people who're still living in caves are more advanced than those living in skyscrapers!

'Advanced' in the sense that they can take care of themselves (try sticking the CEO of a huge company out in the wild and find out just how 'capable' he/she is), they're bound to the earth (we all need more of that) and they work off each other instead of fighting one another (within family groups).

I wouldn’t mind going back to caves - stuff the skyscrapers!

peace

Lol.. "Stupider"

Pretty sure they didn't ruin the earth, create governments that keep failing, create extreme corruption
Ect.

I'm sure someone could elaborate better on what i'm trying to say

Nicely put

I for one have a little different perspective to the issue. I believe humans have advanced, but humans have always had the capability to advance.

What stopped that advancement was belief and culture.

(IMO) There were those who believed that advancement in certain areas was a curse, we don't know how this belief was formed, but we do have the ability to imagine.

So let's imagine

If the world was annihilated through a nuclear holocaust, those who survive would likely be (those outside of civilization), because there would be no need to nuke the Sahara desert, or the Himalayan mountains, or the Amazon jungle, or other places where people are living simplistic lives, showing no threat to other civilizations.

Places that have high probability of getting nuked in a nuclear war

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/d7495d90b8aa.jpg[/atsimg]

Places that have low probability of getting nuked in a nuclear war

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/1b7b2784c200.jpg[/atsimg]

(IMO) Those who are not deemed as threat, will have a high chance of not getting nuked. Those who are, have a high chance of getting nuked (in a nuclear war).

Surely those living simplistic lives show absolutely no threat to huge civilizations.

Now imagine a nuclear war, or some type of advance weaponry war which could have occurred in the past. Who would survive? Maybe that explains why fossils of people living simplistic lifestyles are always found, and the rest have been annihilated. That also explains the certain cultures which are against magic (which is equivalent to science), and other cultures which practice witch hunting etc..

Maybe they saw what advancement did in the past, maybe their culture is based on wisdom. Maybe they know the consequences of having such immense destructive powers at the finger tips of human beings.

Hope you enjoyed my perspective of history, I still baffle myself.

my wife and i were discussing the SAME thing all morning.

we are infantile in our knowledge of the simplest things not by choice, but thru the whims of every religious tyrant as means of control.

Yes. Arrogance. Hubris. Call it what you want...that is what it is.

We still live in caves. But instead, we build our caves. We are a cave dwelling species. We are also a tool using species...but we create fancier tools.

We have always been dreamers, thinkers, philosophers, too. Laying outside our caves, staring at the stars, contemplating everything.

Human arrogance is a major problem. Perhaps it is just a relic of our ego, who knows. But over coming your arrogance is the primary challenge of most religions.
