I don't know about you, but I don't remember hearing of any earthquakes in England. I'm sure there have been, but it's unusual enough to warrant a thread, isn't it?

That makes sense.
But I suppose that if you live in an area where earthquakes are not the norm and your're suddenly in the middle of one, house shaking and all, one might use the word "massive" as a descriptor.

its not massive on a world scale and i know britain has 4 to six tremmors per week but 3.5 is large for anywhere in the mainland of britain also as a side note cumbria has a nuclear facility and is an area being considered for storing nuclear waste so its news worthy in my opinion

i live in teesside which is on the other side of the country but is also less than 90 miles away from coniston england is quite small when compared to north america etc

I was in an earthquake in the UK (different part) about two-three years ago.

I used to live in UK until a few years ago (now in New Zealand where we have PROPER earthquakes ) and I can tell you now that they do have quakes in UK - not usually felt - in fact there was a 5.2 in 2008 in East Anglia that was widely felt....

Overall, the UK has several hundred a year.. most not felt/too small to register.
