Spain's cabinet has agreed to send nearly 900 more troops to Afghanistan, boosting its current small contingent there to more than 1,000 ahead of the
country's elections.
The proposed deployment, announced publicly Thursday by Defense Minister Jose Bono, was approved at the weekly cabinet meeting Friday.
Spain to boost Afghanistan force
Well, it looks like Spain may have grown back a bit of its backbone. I'm sure loss of Iraqi reconstruction money had nothing to do with the new
socialist government's decision to help our in Afghanistan.
Hopefully it is a win-win for all. Spain gets to hunt down those who killed their own, and the U.S. may get to relieve some troops for duty
elsewhere.
