Media or Political Madness or NWO .. dunno' which!

News Story Here

A powerful Democratic senator, pointing the finger at cable news for a politically toxic climate in Washington, unleashed a stunning tirade in which he expressed his desire to see the Federal Communications Commission shut down Fox News and MSNBC.

"I'm tired of the right and the left," West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller said Wednesday during a Senate hearing on retransmission consent. "There's a little bug inside of me which wants to get the FCC to say to Fox and to MSNBC, 'Out. Off. End. Goodbye.' "

Whoda' thunk it? ( US here at ATS!!) A NWO power-player Rockefeller wanting to have the FCC (gov't) start to shut down cable stations. Hey .. i agree that they aren't the best thing in the world .. but shutting down what you dont' like .. that's pretty darn bold. Considering Obama's very open war against FOX .. wonder who would get hit first? And then if the right got in .. the far left shill station MSNBC would get hit.

well considering how a lot of folks here
at ATS feel about Fox and MSNBC
it may be good news to them.

As far as me,
I like Fox news on the web?
I read it everyday

I don't believe everything I read

but I read it

Others carrying this story -

Info Wars

Hot Air

Sen. Rockefeller, in a more rare and honest moment, says that he is tired of the Right and the Left and that we’d all be better off if the FCC would shut down Fox News and MSNBC. That’s interesting, because the FCC doesn’t have any jurisdiction over cable whatsoever. At least not yet.

The Lonely Conservative

Senator Jay Rockefeller “hungers” for quality news. He wants to get the FCC to tell Fox News and MSNBC “Goodbye!” He wants “slimmed down channel packages that better respect what we really want to watch.” Who the hell is he to say what we want to watch?

Resist Net

He failed to mention that both networks are cable television channels and the FCC has little if any regulatory power over their content. Millions of Americans have tuned out the false right-left paradigm of the corporate-dominated news channels in favor of alternative news sources on the internet. For the establishment, this trend is highly disturbing and must be turned back.

Well as much as a propaganda machine these two networks are we supposedly have the right to a free market place of ideas. I know that freedom is not popular with this lot (Senators) but if we don’t like what FOX or MSNBC has to say we do have the right to change the channel.

Jay Rockefeller is the emblem of elitism a lousy, self-righteous, and arrogant tyrant who wants to seize our liberty. Calling out the threats to our society is politically incorrect but saying you want to silence the media is politically correct? When the hell did our morals and standards degrade to this level?

Maybe this will be his way for the Rockefeller's to launch their 100% own media corporation to replace all the competition? Then they can teach us about loving the state, obeying the elite, and to hate those who dare to do such radical things as ask questions.

Well this would make me happy, I don’t know about ol’ Jay though.

I think it's a bit far fetched to say that the FCC has no legal jurisdiction over cable for regulating them. I mean that's what they're supposed to do. That's their job anyhow, not saying whether I agree with them or not that's another story. But, I may not like Fox News or MSNBC but to shut them down completely would be a breach of the first amendment and our civil liberties so I would not respect their decision to do that. I may disagree with what they say but I will defend their right to say it.

MSNBC far left? Are you serious? Are they for nationalization of means of production? Are they advertising popular revolution against accumulation of capital in private hands? Are they saying that financial markets are pure robbery? Are they honestly trying to overthrow FED? Are they trying to expose ruling financial elite? NO! They are just another corporate B# news channel. The M$ mark say it all... It is news channel of one of richest man on the planet!!! It is probably only thing where I'm in accord with this Rockefeller - mainstream notion of right/left paradigm is dead in USA. People wake up, we ARE in middle of class war and the way proposed by Social Democratic wing of left movement is dead. Only revolution against ruling class is the way. Who is ruling class? That 1% who owns 40% of wealth (and still rising). Who is ruled class? That 80% of people who owns 10% of total wealth (and still declining). Numbers are not and can not be accurate depending on methodology but they pretty well describe basic setup and long term trend.

Wow.

This is really sneaky. I love how he plays on the current anti-partisan sentiment in this country (i.e. "I'm tired of the right and the left") to advocate using the heavy hand of the state to shut down media outlets. I promise you that is not what the average American who is sick of the right and the left considers the solution to the problem. If anything this sort of heavy-handed bull# is exactly what these Americans are sick of.

Say what you will about the MSM but I'd rather see them fade into obscurity as the truth is spread across the Internet, than set a precedent that we can just shut down any media outlet our dear leaders find disturbing. In fact I can even see a possible conspiracy element to this: First shut down a couple MSM outlets, but the real purpose is to set the precedent that this can be done, and then start going after various Internet outlets that these people have not yet been able to tame.

All I have to say is, I don't like this at all.

From my point of view there is no left or right. Both are pretty centrists, just either side of center.

Foxnews does not support anarchy ddo they, while msnbc soes not like you say support nationlising everything including all lands, and companies.

There is no real left or right, just left or right just of the centrists view. This is why democracy is a con, and both sides are virtually the same. The only difference being cons believe in god, while dems do not. Thats the only real difference. But they will pretend that there is like this big divide, no there is not.

Cfr runs the white house, no matter if dems or reps are in, the white house staff is full of people picked and chosen, not by you.
