This is way overdue.
web.orange.co.uk...
Also video at source.

Compensation which could total millions of pounds is to be paid out to around a dozen former detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Sky sources say.
The controversial move comes after the Government agreed to settle a series of High Court actions brought by a group of the ex-prisoners.
Some of those thought to be receiving money have accused British security and intelligence officials of colluding in their torture and abuse while they were held abroad.
There are also claims the Government knew they were being illegally transferred there but failed to stop it.
Among those said to be receiving settlements are Binyam Mohamed, Bishar Al Rawi, Jamil El Banna, Richard Belmar, Omar Deghayes, Moazzam Begg and Martin Mubanga.
Most are British citizens or British residents, but some are said to be asylum seekers.
Justice Secretary Ken Clarke will make answer an urgent question on the issue in Parliament this afternoon.

Will David Hicks in Australia get compensation as he deserves.
en.wikipedia.org...
Please note that by Australian law David Hicks never committed any crime in regards to being in Afghanistan. The Australian government sold out one of its citizens.

I will assume you meant, why weren't they.
Sorry I don't know besides the justice system being rigged by the powers that be.

No compensation for him. He is seriously a terrorist! He actually deserved execution for getting involved with the terrorists. His reward is he is lucky to be alive!

Government running away from the truth again.
Better to pay than have it out in court.

David Hicks isn't even allowed to keep the profits from his book.
That ensures he will not earn enough money to afford risking to go to court.

It's all about 'the point of view'

Considering the Wars are illegal,
Maybe the US is the terrorist, and David Hicks was fighting an invading enemy?
Maybe he should get a medal and Bush should be executed?

Right not Might

Please show actual legislation & law codes that he broke not just make broad sweeping statements.

Also there is no Australian law against fighting in a foreign country for that country.

If he wasn't sold out why did Britian demand its citizens back but Australia left its citizen to rot in jail on false charges. He was named an enemy combatent by a corrupt system when he was a prisoner of war so was denied his rights of the Geneva Convention on the rights of the prisoner of war.
