I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I think I would have done the research first before looking foolish becauseof an April Fools joke. Which by the way must have been really good if people are still believing it. This just goes to show how research should be done before you just post something that is not even real. SO do we all understand now what a little research can do, it can mean the difference between being a respected member or it can make you look really foolish which is what is happening here. So nobody take this personal it is just an observation on my part.

I did not see that you had posted that video at the time I was posting. I suppose we were writing at the same time. Thank you for answering.

I am not determined in pursuing the above opinion. I have not "formed" that opinion about ATS. I have no reason at all to question or disbelieve the moderators here. Most of us are here for the Truth. And I feel very confident that ATS moderators would have truth, honesty, and integrity as an innate personal attribute or they would not be here.

I apologize if my comment caused anyone to question the integrity of a moderator. I did not intend that.

I just read thru that thread and I think everyone should go check it out. It seemed that they almost decided that you were joking and then they seemed to do a 180 degree turn.You surely did have a good one there.

These are the type of April Fools jokes that haunt you when you think it is real then find out it was fake.How long did you think about this before you put it in motion? It didn't seem to be a spur of the moment kind of thing but I could be wrong. All I can say is you are a prince of April Fools because this prank has lasted longer than a lot of marriages.

Honestly I didn't really think about it very long. That day in 2004 ATS had some crazy April fools day prank going on, they did every year. It's was so much fun and really had the site buzzing. I thought I would add to the fun (so I thought) and post the cia ip thing. Really I had no idea what I was talking about. Not sure how I found the mil tracking site but it added credibility to my post. Then people started searching it which freaked me out so I came clean that same day because I didn't want people getting in trouble for searching that site.

I think the best thing that was said in that thread was from Spinger...

If we had Government Funding here I would be alot HEAVIER in the billfold than I am!

Just that comment summed up the whole thread. That was priceless.

The problem is that any time we attempt to do something amusing there will always be someone waiting to throw it back in our faces. It is no longer worthwhile to have the staff work on April Fools or Halloween pranks (both of which we used to do) only to have disgruntled people throw them back at us for years to come.

It does become tiresome dealing with this sort of trash, honestly.

The frustrating part of this is that the people who repeatedly post this trash don't even believe it. If they did, they wouldn't sign on here. No. The people who post this don't believe it.

They post it to attack our integrity and to malign our staff. Repeatedly. By the same small group of repeatedly banned members. The last thread like this desperately attempted to portray one of the site owners as someone he's not. Typical though.

I guess my post in 2004 outs those that would believe anything typed out on the Internet but it's still the single most regretful post I ever made on ATS. I have now worked with this site as staff for 5.5 years. I've seen the behind the scenes struggles and the hardship the owners have gone through to keep this site accessible to everyone without cost.

I can't help feeling ashamed that my single post on Aprils Fools Day 2004 has been used to hurt those that have struggled for years to supply this site to the world. They just want to bring freedom of thought to those that will listen. It's such a noble cause , one that I feel I have hindered. Year after year.....when this single post is thrown in their face, it's like a slap to my mine.

I doubt it will ever go away....something I will always regret.
