A roadside bomb in southeast Baghdad was detonated as a convoy of US Marines passed, killing at least three and wounding two. This brings the estimated number of US troop deaths to 632.

Guerrillas have detonated a roadside bomb as a U.S. convoy passed in Baghdad, killing three American marines and wounding two, the U.S. military says.

Witnesses say the Humvee at the front of the convoy took a direct hit from the blast. "I don't know why the terrorists want to kill us. We just want to help Iraqis," said one of the surviving Marines.

This is the first fatal attack on Coalition forces since the power handover yesterday.
