The Earl of Sterling has a YouTube video out discussing the conjuncture of the oil from Deepwater, has destroyed the Gulf Stream.

His website diagram displays the Gulf Stream Stopping just off the coast of the eastern seaboard.
This is a link to the Oct 4th 2010 NOAA study of the Gulf Stream with current Nov 2010 data.

The GS appears OK to me, but then I'm not an Oceanographer.
You decide on what you see.

Those are surface waters.

The deep water conveyor is moving as strong as it ever has.

Surface waters do move up to 10 either side of the actual stream.

I could only find somehing about winters getting a bit colder if the Gulf Stream stopped completly.. guess its not that bad
