5 women killed in Mexico near border; 7 men in capital

www.msnbc.msn.com

MEXICO CITY — As common as shootings have become in Mexico, two deadly attacks Thursday stunned this nation for their brazenness: Five women leaving work at a border maquiladora were shot dead, while seven young men were gunned down in a gritty neighborhood of Mexico City.

Any of this sound familiar? It's sickening how little value for life is shown. I'm not sure what should be done, but I wouldn't rule out predator drones.

It goes on to say:

Gunmen opened fire on three company buses in Caseta, a town near Ciudad Juarez along the U.S. border, killing five women and injuring 14 others, local media reported.

The shootings occurred a day after gunmen killed 15 people at a car wash in Tepic, a city in the Pacific coast state of Nayarit.

Over the weekend, gunmen massacred 14 young people at a birthday party in the border city of Ciudad Juarez, and 13 recovering addicts were killed in an attack on a drug rehab center in Tijuana.

The first three shootings occurred in disputed drug trafficking territory where massacres, beheadings and shootouts occur frequently.

Mexico is playing with fire. That country is asking for trouble. Since these killings look like they will continue, look for the USA Military to bomb the F*** out of parts of that country. Oh and the borders wil be closing when the Republicans take over. Close the stupid borders. WE CANNOT REWARD MEXICO DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM. THEY DESERVE NOTHING.

I wouldn't expect "shock and awe," I would expect the special operations capable units that the U.S. already has down there to start ramping up their training and deployment of Mexican military forces. I'd bet my lefty that search blocs similar to those formed in Columbia during Escobar's reign have been and are being formed. All I can say regarding this is to look for an increase in raids and ambushes. Soon after, CNN will be running stories on haciendas and cartel compounds being raided, and as you eluded to, possibly blown up by ground-directed air strikes from Mexican military aircraft.

Most of these cartels aren't your run of the mill criminal organizations. Their highest-tiers are comprised of former Mexican Special Forces, as well as special forces capable operators contracted from all over Central and South America; many of whom have been trained by America's own Army Special Forces. There is no doubt these guys have eyes and ears in the tip top of the Mexican government. It is also obvious that these guys run with some serious hardware and have been trained on how to use it. The cartels operate like private contractors, rolling in convoys of armored SUVs and clad in body armor and 5.56 carbine rifles. I remember seeing "patriot" variation M4 rifles with 200 round "C-mags" lying on the streets after the initial violence broke out down there. Tackling this problem is going to be far from easy and peaceful, but you can rest assured that the U.S. government is only going to let violence like this operate so close to our border for so long.

Ptah! Get the bad taste out of my mouth! The us gov is up to its ass in the drug business...if they quit now how would they fund all those black ops projects they have going?
The war on drugs brings in money from both sides of the fight.
More cops more guns more helicopters etc etc.
Its all BS and its not gonna stop till half of mexico is wasted.

Apparently most of these cartels were started by ex-American special forces and other opportunists who decided they could make exponentially more money in this market. This probably explains why they are so efficient, or even why some cartel forces wear US army fatigues and drive US army hummers. This is probably one good reason why the US has not started bombing cartels; that and the fact that Mexico is one third of NAFTA and provoking them will cause a major sh*tstorm among the Mexican government and Canadians as well.

Amen! I can't believe that country hasn't been able to get a handle on this situation. I am no fan of the U.S. forcing itself upon other countries and their problems, but one has to ask why the hell there are so many Americans who had no trouble with us going to Iraq and wreaking havoc even after it was revealed that Bush lied about WMD, just based on the fact Sadaam was a brutal dictator--yet people are being slaughtered right on our border and we sit around on our laurels. UNBELIEVABLE. This is one instance where I believe it is justified for the U.S. to send military down there to kick some cartel butt. Violence is the only thing these drug cartels understand. They slaughter innocent people as much as they do other criminals. They need to be killed. I'm sorry, but it's just too close to home.

Our military is supposed to protect us...it's spilling into this country damn it!!

The cartels are proving to be more beneficial to the US than the alternative; socialists who believe in agrarian reform (ie land distribution back to the people), nationalization of resources (oil and corn, latter of which in Mexico is completely dominated by Monsanto), equality among the population, etc. Why would the US attack cartels that hold off socialist reform in Mexico? It is mutual between them.
