More seriously though probably over 10 years ago now , I picked up a postcard that had all the different web patterns that a spider would make on different substances.
It was a bit like this picture, I thought it was cool.

I saw this on msm yesterday and it just simply broke my heart. I did not even open the link, but I think from your Op it is not that they are really on drugs? That is good. I hate how testing happenens on all the beautiful sentient beings on the planet. Its just wrong. Drugs should be by choice not force, nature is so majestic and brilliant in its natural state. We have 'pet' spiders around here in the country, we just enjoy them so much and leave them alone unless they come indoors and then we just set them out with a psychic warning to stay out, not negative but more about our space and theirs.
