Recently I stopped watching the nightly line up of talking heads on MSNBC at first I thought it was due to me becoming a Classical liberal and no longer a Social Democrat. I mostly ignored that though, didn't really think too much into it. But last night I had my television scheduled so I could watch Real Time with Bill Maher, one of my favorites, but when I was watching he really lost my support. I heard him talking about religion and using every bad word out there to argue against it but I didn't see any factual evidence, I just saw a talking point.

At that moment I realized that I no longer liked these people like I did before, I would actually listen to them but now they just appear to be ludicrous. It's just to belittle the other side at any cost but they don't offer up anything more than just yelling to try and prove their point, they just expect us to listen then repeat.

It all hit me when I lost interest in Bill Maher, my loss of interest in MSNBC and all news stations in general and those who just yell and argue but don't propose a solution, don't provide evidence and just seem to me like they are just there to argue.

Then I thought to myself, "Is this what the mean on ATS when they talk about 'waking up' or 'leaving the herd'" whatever metaphor you want to use. I believe it finally happened for me and at that same time I really lost interest in just being some mouth piece for my ideology, we should seek the truth beyond everything and be willing to expose friends and foes for who they really are. Let the truth become the most important part of your educational life.

So did is this what you meant ATS by leaving the herd or waking up?

It's possible that you're starting to wake up, or are already awake, I used to be in the same position - used to hang on every word said on CNN, and watch shows like Bill Maher, Colbert Report, Jon Stewart, and others, but now don't watch any of them. They're all the same, they just spout off about their specific points of view and end up completely bashing anyone who disagrees with them.

The whole "Fox is Right Wing", "CNN is Left Wing" is all just window dressing designed to make the masses think they have a choice, when in the end, they're all just putting their own spin on the same news received from Reuters and the Bilderburg Group.

It's amazing that the masses are still buying into the "official version" of events.

Glad to hear you've become a classical liberal. The new liberal is just a code word for socialist.

TRUTHfully leaving the heard means no longer are you dead but alive and full of life.

But you are moving in the right direction, you may possibly be waking up, which is what all of us hear are doing.

Joining ATS just means you are questioning things while still in the herd, but you will finally leave the herd when you notice that all the former great opinion people are quacks.

Yeah I was heavy into MSNBC and before that CNN, but now they are so lousy at reporting the truth and its all about their opinion everything I'm just tired of it.

Actually the new Liberalism is called Social liberalism which has the welfare state mentality but lacks the workers ownership and nationalization part.

I know, but it's still too socialistic for my taste.

That's understandable, that's why I'm a Classical liberal.

I think the next step for you is to stop trying to identify with the left or the right. Everyone seems to want to be labeled something this day and age so as to fit in somewhere. Once you realize there is no left or right and that it's all fabricated to keep us separated then you will have taken the next step in waking up.

I've followed both sides only to see that they are the same. They are there to attack one another constantly and the real issues get buried beneath the shenanigans of who is right or wrong. An opinion makes no one right or wrong. It's just an opinion. You notice how both sides just throw blame at one another for everything. That is all they do. What is ever accomplished by this? Besides confusion.

There is turmoil in what is going on in this world but being separated fighting the same fight will never work. One side always undermines the other. Take away the sides and there is only the problem left.

At the same time, there are some truly brilliant people out there, and at times, there is much to learn and consider from their opinions. Just like on ats, there are people whose opinions I look forward to reading. They always give me something to think about.

My point being, I don't think you should just dismiss someone's opinion, simply because it's not presenting hard-core facts. This is where your critical thinking skills come into play, and you gage what makes sense to you, and what doesn't.

There may be a fraction of truth in each opinion.

Just my opinion.

I woke up some time ago when I stopped watching TV. I have been woken up a couple of times after that. But now, I even see the light.

This videoseries, www.youtube.com..., have helped me to explain things I thought I couldn't name. This nameless life was dull, boring and sheeped out. Love, oneness, all is one and one is all, God, it's all different names for the same thing.

Remember, I will always love you no matter how weird your thoughts may seem. Believe me, nothing is weirder then the sleep we have been in for so much time now.

Logic is the way to go, no matter where you find it. Logic and love.

I think you're just starting to be more independently minded, and truly think for yourself. I was naturally like this, and only became boxed in my thinking after listening to Alex Jones & George Noory & his guests for a while. I had a very traumatic time in my life a few years back, and lost some of my critical thinking skills for a period of time. After snapping out of the haze, I realized that these people are selling you a view, and that it's quite incomplete.

I still watch the daily show, and bill maher on occasion, but I do it from looking outside of their point of views. I watch what they say, why they say it, and actually laugh at them quite a bit. There was one point in time where I considered myself to be pretty ignorant towards a lot of educated things, and I looked up to people like Bill Maher to teach me some of what's going on. Now I think that I was simply going through a slight psychosis after being traumatized, and had lost a lot of self respect and willpower along the way.

Don't box yourself with any of the labels. If I had to label myself from a political standpoint, I'd be an independent. I think there's a lot of brilliant ideas out there, and I see no reason to box these wide range of ideas into any one label.

Being awake, from my view of things, is about realizing that most of what we see is just a show, and we're each playing out our roles in "civilization". It's knowing that there are people who use various practices to control others, and that most of the people are deep in a trance. Recently, I've realized that being awake at an even deeper level means accepting that most will never really wake up, and that's okay. I've realized that they willfully choose to remain ignorant, and that if they were to be made aware of their roles in continuing this great con on humanity, they would not be able to live with their selves. I think people would rather leap off a cliff than see their selves and "civilization" for whom they are and what it is.

Misoir,

There is a saying that has been around for some time, "Too soon old and too late Smart". That is prob. true with a lot no doubt There is one thing for certain we must be searchers in this world of confusion and be excellent sorters of what is true, in all that life is about. Go past the troublers and look for good common sense evaluations is our business. We sure need to get with it from here on out.

I'm with you. My next step is getting off the internet, getting into the world and truly learn what it is about. I once stated something along the lines "we really don't need to change what "they" are doing, we only need to change what we are doing".
I suppose the full meaning of the latter is that we, mostly, freely give others authority and modify our workings not only in alignment with authority but even as we oppose it we do so in respect to the nature of what we oppose.
To move towards true freedom, I think, one has to "un-confirm" any authority and only act on ones own impression of reality. Surely other folks expressions of stuff gives important perspectives, but it is still only a recount of someone else´s impression of things. Regarded as the latter, sure, fine, but taken as something you build your view upon you have an authority - of sorts.

Awesome! Feels good, huh?

Political parties are just another way for society to be fractured into opposing parts, thus weakening society as a whole, as well as weakening each individual's influence/power. If we are all dead-set against each other over what I consider trivial issues (muslims building their community center near 9/11 WTC for example is what USA is all about, freedom of religion), then we won't be able to lay down our arms and make real progress. We have so much potential, and waste so much of it on truly trivial issues. We are distracted. I hope that you feel less distracted by all the fluff and more able to focus your energies on what really matters: Love, Understanding, Respect, and Peace. LURP IT UP

Yes, this is all part of the waking up thing. There is much more. Pretty soon you will realize if you do not already that your own arguments and beliefs even as you say them will hold less weight than before. You will constantly change opinion and realize that any type of system that is not fair for everyone will not work. Fairness will take on a different meaning. You will possibly begin seeing others as either awakened or not, instead of holding this belief or not. There is nothing wrong with having a belief as long as you are willing to constantly reevaluate it, as conditions change. To hold to one ideology is to be not honest with possible scenario's that present themselves.

Based on my personal experience with waking up you are a step ahead of most on ATS. There are many steps left, but there is no turning back now. You see the truth. Like NEO in the Matrix you see the underlying current of energy in people and systems. You can probably tell when someone is not telling the whole truth and differentiate between those that are lying and those that mean well but have not awakened.

Go back to sleep,if you do not, before long you will have to go to more powerful things to kill the pain of what you see in this world.

I ride my bike when I am not hung-over.
