Sadr spurns Iraq council invitation

Supporters of Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr have declined an invitation to take part in the Iraqi national conference. Mr Sadr's followers were offered one seat on the body which is to select advisers for the Iraqi government.

The invitation did not give sufficient recognition to an organisation with thousands of members, an aide said.

These guys are incredible. First they refuse to recognize the new Iraqi government and now they are trying to negotiate a greater role in the new Iraqi government.
