OVER THE PACIFIC OCEAN -- In a historic first for Cold War adversaries, U.S., Canadian and Russian military officers directed fighter jets and ground controllers to test how well they could track an international terrorist hijacking over the Pacific Ocean.

A chartered American jet code-named Fencing 1220 sent a mock distress signal shortly after taking off from Anchorage, Alaska, on Sunday, triggering a pursuit by at least seven fighters and a flurry of radio and telephone calls between military and civilian officials on both sides of the Pacific.

Very interesting. The US and the Russians practicing against "terrorists" who just may happen to invade each others airspace. I have to say this is unprecedented level of cooperation between the two. I just wonder what is really up. The US and Russia seem to be getting quite chummy these days. Id rather see this though than the 2 lobbing thousands of nukes at each other thats for sure.

good. now lets get China on board and try doing something as a World that matters. Wonder what the big players could do if we all worked along side each other...

colonies on the moon? mars?... guess we'll never know.. more important fighting over anything we can, down here over our imaginary lines we paint on the map.

USA and Russian Federation have been quite cozy. We run jointly with them for our space programs and whatnot. I wouldn't consider them allies but they are a super-power and we both don't want to piss each other off.

10 to 1 says this exercise was not about what they said it was about.

How are we depending on Russian spaceships and their technology? They still drop pods from outer space that land on water..... We have a shuttle that lands and can be reused. We work jointly with them in space because they have things to learn from us just as we do them. Neither is relying on one another for anything.

It's all scripted.
What a way to divide and conquer a nation. What if we had become an occupying force in a nation that had already been taken or just didn't fit in with the rest of world politics. Now that would be a sight to see.

Obama has been doing a good job of strengthening US-Russia relations, he just negotiated a new disarmament treaty not too long ago.
