Ahmadinejad challenges Obama to TV debate on solving world's problems

www.haaretz.com

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday to face him in a televised one-on-one debate to see who has the best solutions for the world's problems.
The provocative proposal comes as Iran deals with a new wave of international sanctions - driven by Washington - aimed at putting pressure on the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program.

Provocative Proposal ........................ !?!?!?!??!?!??

First ... this proposal is awesome and a great idea...
second ... it can advantage both side politicaly speaking
third ... its better talks than bombs

and fourth ... it will be more simple for us and all other people who will watch this debate ... to find

who's lying .. who's exagerating .. who wants war .. who wants to talk .. WHO'S BETTER LEADER FOR ITS PEOPLE

If i was in Obama and Amhadinejad place ... i would gladly accept this debate ... since .. it can saves live and show more light on both side...

from my part ..i like to debate respectfully, professionnaly, vigorously ... everyone on ATS knows that by now

but if im wrong i will be the first one to admit it
and learn from it...

hope Obama have the same spirit
but does he really want to talk ???

War/Peace = depend from Obama answer
if he says yes ... peace talk will start and tension will no more rise
if he say NO ... than he see that debate inutil ...nobody will prevent that coming war

all other signs are pointing that this war will be greenlighted by the USA congress
it will only miss the "YES WE CAN" go bomb the hell out Iran

PS: at least in the CNN story link they didnt describe the proposal has provocative ...
jpost, debka.haaretz, ynetnews = like to exagerate things up and demonize people in the news they dont like

OBAMA ...YES WE CAN ..... YES I CAN ...YES I WILL GO DEBATE HIM ..
real enemies dont want to peace or debate talks
that is the proof that the president of Iran doesnt view that much the USA has the enemy only its regime but even there..

imagine a instant Hitler offering debate talks to a President...
that simply dont make any sens
i just hope he will say yes .. we will see now if he his strong without his telecomunication fleet arsenal

THEY NEED TO DEBATE OR WAR WILL HAPPEN
both knows that..

No way in hell would Obama agree to this. He would be exposed for what he is very quickly.

Iran plays politics very well, far better than the western world. Ahmadinejad would tear him to pieces with questions Obama could never give a satisfactory answer.

Ahmadinejad has spoken in the US, why hasn't Obama or Bush spoken over there?

Those who speak the truth welcome questions.

Precisely why Obama won't do it.

Wow!

This should be on Pay Per View

I would look forward to seeing this that's for sure but like some members say: I doubt Obama will except the invitation, unless there was public pressure to do so.

It won't happen I don't even know why Ahmadinejad is even putting such a proposal. Obama/ US political figures has nothing to gain from some hard talks with facts based on ground realities in direct talks.

Obama before election promised he would be speak with Iran with no bars, how many times has he had direct talks with Iran since then? NONE ! What he has done is follow the same procedure of Bush of threatening and issuing more sanctions.

USRAEL has nothing to gain from direct talks which could possibly open a door for peace.

man everyone should be able to see

You have got to give Ahmadinejad credit. He is doing a pretty good job of playing the game.

I think he is putting the proposal forward knowing full well it will be rejected flatly, and once again Iran will come across as looking for dialogue, with much refusal by the US.

Another diplomatic falcon punch by the Iranians.

To add "He's got a teleprompter in his trunks... " Brilliant.

I think this is a great idea, and should not be overlooked. This type of attitude towards the world is what is needed. Let global leaders debat on live television about global issues w/o the debate being based on an election... Obama should except
....

i sadly agree with you
if he say NO ... i will label him forever to be a COWARD
Americans interests need to be at the first, second and third places in the top priority to-do list
the list is 1.Israel 2.Israel 3.Israel ......100.America 101.Israel 102.Israel
its not fair ... many in the USA are really poor ...

home foreclosure happen everyday :Elderly Mother, Son Found Dead In Their Burned, Foreclosed Family Home

You know what .. i really though HE be the president of the USA that americans diserve...
i usualy have gifted powers
to smell certain evil attitudes in peoples... but in him ... didnt see it coming... this is very troubling
he can really be full of surprises... the mister Obama now cool Joe style
i was deceived very much so far ... but before with his cool smile and strong spirit attitude.. and all his kind words he said ...i actually beleive in the guy to be the opposite of Bush

I will give him personnal points if he agree
this new BREAKING NEWS
its been picked up by worldwide news
they speak about it on CNN ... he will have to answer something
but 80% chance he will simply ignore the request without a Yes/No

what do you think ?

unless there was public pressure to do so.

Time to set the ball rolling I'd say.

For this to not be accepted would be the biggest mistake that could be made.
Showing the world the true colours/intentions of the US PTB,not of peace but the war profiting/mongering psychopaths of the Ilk of many throughout the years.Hitler being the main.

One thing with Hitler, though very wrong in his doing,he didn't BS about.
Not like the scheming, lying, evil B'stds of today.

this is incredible and what a great move by Ahmadinejad,

I've watched him before on the UN security council meetings and he certainly does have alot of good views on the worlds issues.

He can certainly put his point across

I hope Obama does agree and Ahmadinejad puts him and the US in their place in front of the world

Ben81,

I agree with you that negotiations would be far better then bombs but to let two "fighters" talk it out without a mediator would be a bit careless I think.

Provocative Proposal ........................ !?!?!?!??!?!??

Unlikely as it seems, it could be a provocative proposal. It might even be considered a brilliant offensive tactical maneuver....

First ... this proposal is awesome and a great idea...

From the side of Ahmadinejad it is an awesome proposal and a good opportunity to undermine the enemy's motivation and trust in it's leaders....

Think about it......if you are facing an enemy which is infinitely stronger then you in any conventional way, how are you going to attack that enemy??

You make it's troops question their leader. And my guess is that that is what he is after. He's not dumb. Their intelligence is happily reading along with us and thousands of other message boards to poll our opinion and play on those sentiments.

... it will be more simple for us and all other people who will watch this debate ... to find

who's lying .. who's exagerating .. who wants war .. who wants to talk .. WHO'S BETTER LEADER FOR ITS PEOPLE

Exactly my point. Being a leader involves making choices that do not necessarily benefit the short term goals but rather the long term goals. "Being most popular President" does not always serve the interest of a country.

When you have as much clearance to information as your president does then you might be in a position to judge whether or not this proposal is "awesome" or "great", until that time I'd reserve some skepticism.

Just my opinion....

Peace

Im sure they would be well P'sed at it.

But they are one country, the rest of the worlds opinion should count above
what they say. When considering WW3 could ignite from US pandering to Israel by going for Iran.

You progressives got what you deserved.
Apparently your "gifted powers" of scent were turned off. (BTW, How do you see with smell? Just asking)
You were deceived. The guy was, is and always be a socialist shill!!!

I, thank the Lord, saw through his crap. Mainly because I don't live stateside and only got what the news and various web sites said. Yes I listen to Limbaugh, Beck, and FOX news.

Also Aljezeera and all of the Arabs and Persians I know, which is quite a few loved him!!! Does that tell you anything?

Now they just laugh at him (and us) and call him Barrack (jimmy) Carter!!

So yeah, y'all screwed up. Live with the Coward. Or impeach him.
