Tonight will mark the peak of the first meteor shower of what astronomers, both professional and amateur, refer to as meteor season. Tonight/tomorrow morning, the Earth will pass through the thickest stretch of debris left by comets Marsden and Kracht, which results in the Delta Aquarid meteor shower.

For anyone in the Lorain County area, the Black River Astronomical Society will be hosting a public star party (clear sky only) on Friday from 9:30-11:30pm with the theme of the Delta Aquarids. The event will be held at the Lorain County Metroparks Equestrian Center on Nickel Plate Diagonal Rd. in Carlisle Township. The event is free and open to the public, so come on out!
