Fars cited an anonymous source who said Shahram Amiri's stay in the United States was a plan by Iranian intelligence that worked to perfection.

"This was an intelligence battle between America's CIA and us that was orchestrated and managed by Iran," the source was quoted as saying. "In planning this battle we saw a variety of intelligence goals and, with God's will, we reached all of our goals without our rival having gained any real victory."

That's interesting! Really what a movie this could be. Kidnapped nuclear scientist becoming a double agent.
If this is true it is really embarassing for the CIA.
But I think the iranian are exagerating this story, I don't see what valuable information he'd get from the CIA, probably a lot of cash for false info. What would the iranian do with a couple of CIA license plates??

Iran says this, and Iran says that. It is just another shot by Iran at provoking tension with the United States, and as long as the USA can ignore the misfits (that being Iran), Iran can just embarrass it's self somewhere else.

Well it's not entirely impossible that Iran set this up. I mean look at how the Bush admin ate up everything Ahmed Chalabi was feeding them and got them to overthrow Saddam for him and he could just take the reigns.

Why not send out a spy with official cover? Knowing the US and Israel are looking for any info that helps build their case for war against Iran. Iran has really learned the PR stuff well. They are fighting a good fight in the world PR arena.
