Okay, Okay. Before any of you start: Regarless if you believe in the NASA Appollo 11 project or you don't, this is a great story of American greatness.

If you believe: Putting men on the moon and getting them back alive-a very impressive feat for 1969.

If you don't believe: Then, at least, enjoy the human ability to be able to do such a hoax on such a large scale!!!! They should be admired for that-alone.

So, here we go. Sit back, relax and step back into time and (for then) the unknown:

And if there are any comments on this one also! I'll start if off with: By looking at the landing pad-if seems to me like Appollo 11 landed like a feather!!! Hardly any impacting! Looks like the pad sitting on a concrete floor in the pic of Armstrong taking a pic (#2 on this thred). Heck, the pad may have actually sank deeper in the concret!

There are a lot of pics here but I think these needed to be shown to show the whole picture (if you will). CBS, again surprising me, is the source. There are many more pictures there for this story/event.

I hope you enjoyed this little Happy Anniversary Flashback. I did. I can't wait to see some of the comments as to Appollo 11 itself but to the pics (I put some of my comments there).

Amazing where we, as a nation and as humans, have come. I wonder where we will end up at?

Very cool, I really enjoyed the one titled "The Eagle Approaches Command Module During Rendezvous." I've never seen that pic before, amazing. When I first read of the theories that man has never been to the moon (a few years ago) I was intrigued. After really doing thorough research I've concluded that we probably know far less than NASA allows us to know...yet, I believe man has definitely been to the moon. Why it's been so long since we last have been told we went to the moon is anyone's guess.

Anyways, awesome pics thanks for sharing.

As always awesome thread, the pictures were amazing, I think we went to the moon, but that NASA tampered with the photos to make them look more grand then they already were.

S&F for you.

Amazing pics some of those i haven't seen before, broings it home what an achievement it was back in 1969.
i have my own opinion on the moon landings but thats not for this thread,i have seen many video's & pics of apollo 11 & it still amazes me to this day, what must have been going through there minds as they saw the moon approaching.

I hope in my lifetime i see something of this magnitude happen, mars landing hopefully but at the moment that looks unlikey

nice to look back

No. please, put your thoughts down here and share. I think some of those photos will spark some interesting/serious debate. So, please. What do you think?

I don't want to rattle people because they have there own theories of what we did achieve & didn't.
I think we DID go to the moon but some of pictures were changed to hide certain things,i know most pics can be explained but in my opinion something is or was there that we were not meant to see.
as time goes on i believe less in the we didn't go hoax more towards something BIG up there that we're just not ready to see just yet

What makes you say that? Flags in a vacuum can retain their wrinkles just fine.

Can you explain why? What about it looks fake? The lack of stars? Doesn't this look just as "fake?"

To honor the Apollo 11 anniversary I invite everyone who wants to learn how it was done to try their hand at the free AMSO simulation of Apollo with the space simulator Orbiter. Relatively speaking, it's one of the easiest Apollo simulators but it still retains the realistic physics of the entire mission.

The graphics aren't too shabby either, especially for a free program.

Little known fact about the Buzz with the flag picture; he can be seen through his visor looking at Neil in that picture, not straight ahead, but you can only tell if you look at a high resolution version:

Man. THANKS FOR THAT. You are right. Looking right at him!!! kinda of spooky! Now, looking at that pic, look at the shadows AGAIN. The flag doesn't appear to have one. The craft's is going a different angle?!

As far as being windy that day. I wrote that due to the flags appearance combined with his leaning forward-in the direction of the flag etc.

As far as the pic I thought maybe fake. I meant rather Staged. Like it was taken back on Earth during training etc.

It's there but it's hard to see due to the way the ground is disturbed down-sun from the flag pole, causing it to be very ragged and hiding the shadow in spots. Also the flag itself is facing edge-on towards the sun, so it doesn't cast a large shadow. The shadow of the pole can be seen to fall to the right of the pole.

The craft's is going a different angle?!

I don't see that. It was taken facing the opposite direction from the picture of Neil working on the LEM.

Ok, but can you explain why you thought that? What about it looks fake to you?

i dont think the landings were fake. is so why would they go back as many times as they did. If it was fake they would just have to do it once and be over with. the the whole apallo 13 thing. was that staged then too? I dont think so. i think if anything they are hiding things in pictures that they dont want us to see.

I once seen a video that was sopose to have taken place on apallo 11 and it shows them walking into ruins on the moon. i dont know if it was fake or not but i belive it could be possible

I don't know why it strikes me as a fake/set up photo. Maybe cause it is sparkling brand new, after it left the Moon?

Here is the shadow angles as I see it. Please excuse my crude lines but I think they show the shadow differences.

I dont understand why the shadows have anything to do with being fake? are you saying he was copyed and pasted in the photo? even on earth can you make a piture where you have one shadow going one way and the other shadow another way?

Indeed, but why would the shadows necessarily be parallel? The surface is obviously uneven, especially noticeable in the high resolution version, plus there are other perspective effects present as seen here:

ok great find. i never knew elevation would have that big of a effect on shadows. so we can throw out the shadow stuff.

I should have clarified. The fake/set up one is the one of the lander and main craft docking together.

As far as the photo with the shadows. yes, I have heard the argument of different shadow angles etc. but I don't believe you can have that differnce show by the lines with the light source coming from the one direction and the items that cast a shadow being so close to each other.

But, I am a nooby in the whole moon/moon landing hoaxes etc. I love to learn though.

I guess for what I see as the biggest problem with NASA and the whole Moon deal. Us going there was by far one of Man's greatest tech achivements. But we don't go back? Why? Even just for science/learning? No. The whole "Been there done that" attitude just doesn't cut it-sorry. Give me/us a better reason(s).

Again, what about that photo makes you think it's fake?

Did you not see the example I gave? It clearly happens.

It's hugely expensive. NASA's budget has never been as high as it was in the 60's, not even close. We lack the will to go back as a nation. We elected a president who said during his campaigning that he'd gut the moon program for an education initiative, and then reversed his position to say he'd accelerate it. Nationally no one cared much either way so he was free to speak out of both sides of his mouth to different groups to get votes. I'm not at all surprised that he canceled our plans to return to the moon. I could say more but I'll bite my tongue.

Love the pics!!

If you look right below the yellow line you put in the picture on the right of the flag, you should see a thin horizontal black line. Its going straight at the astronauts shins. I believe that is the shadow your looking for.

Again love your posts. I believe we went to the moon, but I am in the camp of the public not being shown everything. They were still hero's to me.

Take care

The map is from a book, there was probably some unneeded text in that corner. It's definitely not there to hide anything seeing as how the entire image is a painting to begin with.

Generally, impacting ones spaceship into the ground is not recommended. Here's a video of the Apollo 11 LM descent. vimeo.com...

The "Been there done that" attitude annoys me too. The reason why we've not been back is simply money or lack there of. Just look at there budget history.
