everywhere I go on the internet I never see the button or clause to end membership of web sites,
do you not think that this is weird if you wanted to de-activate your account.

perhaps this should be an option also

Cyberspace continuity.

If people could just arrive, post and then dissappear without a trace then how would we all know what relates to what?

Even if a "member" decides to go awol, the words written and the reference to the poster need to stay so they are relevant and continue any timelines.

Just one opinion.

As far as I know you can go back and edit any post you have made and delete anything from it that you don't want someone seeing. If someone has quoted your post though then I guess there isn't much you can do
