Each and every day I come to this website I see pretty much the same thing. I see how things have shifted. Most of this website is completely full of right wing conspiracies...most of which say nothing of corporations...which I find dumbfounding.

I see almost NO ONE saying that we need to raise tariffs to get our jobs back...only people bitching about what tax system we should have when in reality....if we don't do something about our trade laws....IT WON'T MATTER EITHER WAY!!!!!!

This country became the powerhouse it was because THE MIDDLE CLASS WAS EMPOWERED. It no longer is. We no longer have a voice as all major media is completely corporate.....most of them transnational....that used to be solely US CORPORATIONS.....but they have sold us out.

There is financial reform happening now...Republicans are saying it's a takeover.....

SERIOUSLY?

Reform is so watered down it's hardly going to make a difference. Republicans, who once were screaming about TO BIG TO FAIL....now DEFENDS TO BIG TO FAIL. Democrats have also been extremely THIN SKINNED in this regard. We should be breaking up these entities with anti-trust laws....seeings how the top 5 banks OWN 63 PERCENT OF OUR GDP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS?????

Comminism, socialism, marxism....DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH. It's all BS. Wall Street rules the day....TRANSNATIONAL CORPORATIONS rule this country.

There is no giant conspiracy in this regard...IT IS FACT. Cripes....

Corporations are the REAL ENTITIES controlling our government. THEY are the ones who are really blocking unemployment.....and instead pushing for TAX CUTS FOR THEMSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wondering if people are ever going to realize that both SMALL BUSINESSES and AMERICAN WORKERS are in the same damn boat. For whatever reason, small businesses keep siding with Republicans when they are hurting them.

Tax cuts for small businesses mean NOTHING if Corporations are still able to hire slave labor.

What bothers me most of all...so many of you BITCH ABOUT HOW THE NEWS MEDIA SUCKS.....all of them...Fox...NBC...WHATEVER.

Yet....as it be....TOO MANY USE TALKING POINTS FROM THEM. I see it everyday. I can't tell you how many times I've seen something on TV and then see it immediately on ATS. You are a bunch of lap dogs.....just waiting to lick up and consume any garbage BS that just may support what YOU WANT TO BELIEVE IS RIGHT.

It's all the same. I've been there. I did it too. I've been all over the place in terms of politics trying to find what is actually true...for which I've gotten much hate for....many think I'm not even legit.

Look around. Who has the most money. Who has the most sway in government?

Is it you? Is it the average American just trying to eek their way through life?

IT'S NOT.

AND YOU SHOULD DAMN WELL KNOW THAT BY NOW.

I am so sick of hearing people making their stand for ideological reasons. It's BS...none are perfect and none create the perfect world. It's up to us to find the best mixture of ingredients to make our entire country the best it can be.

Unfortunately...to many of you accept where we are. You IGNORE the power corporations have on this country....and you are lead in this direction. You'd rather see the demise OF OUR OWN CITIZENS based on ideological grounds.

I'm really tired of all of it.....no one truly cares...NOR DARE TOO LOOK AT THINGS ANOTHER WAY...... BECAUSE THEY SIMPLY DO NOT WANT TO.

You ARE in Corporate Prison...whether you are willing to admit it or not.

I will end my rant....although I know I could go further...my brain is so full of facts that I could go on forever.....but what is the point...you probably stopped reading after the first paragraph anyway........

That is so true.

or corporations are the tools. either way, they are bad news!! i watched a documentry about corporations, it had a chilling part at the end, when several CEO mentioned eventually we would have to pay for our air, it was inevitible.

a few years later emissions trading popped up.

i think it was called the corporations. about 6 hours long

Eye opening.

i agree.

i feel corporations have more rights than an actual individual citizen.

i do not believe that should be true, fair, nor allowed.

Hmm - I don't know if your depiction of ATS'ers is entirely accurate.

I think most people understand that it is through corporations that everything is run - government, education, law - even prisons and so on.

I do hope that people stop using anything to do with large corporations - it is the first way to attack the system - especially loans, and credit cards - just don't pay.

The corporations however are controlled by people - and it is this shadowy group of c-nts who are actually in control of everything.

Indeed!

Look what happened when Rudd was going to impose a super tax on the mining giants? We woke up one morning to find they had replaced him.

Personally, I don't believe you should have to vote unless you're a CEO of a large corporation.

Pretty good idea for a thread! You know, "corporations" are people too! In other words, legal entities, but they are owned, and at least officially "controlled", but the investors, which is often you and me, so-to-speak.

The real problem is always the consolidation of power. Since the legal entity "corporation" allows the concentration of capital, it also means that power is automatically concentrated as well. That power can perhaps easily be manipulated by the guy at the table with the most chips.

Wherever you look, it's the same people, on the same boards of directors. They dictate what this company does, and that one too. And too many stock-market-fools, have handed them exactly what they need, to really hose us all.

Do we own stock? We're part of the problem. I, for one, do not anymore. There is a moral issue here. Buy gold, and silver, like THEY do, and trust no one to somehow manage "your" money. They will screw you in the end, if they get the slightest chance (and they will!).

Anyway, hope this will provoke a good discussion. TPTB would not have us so firmly by the balls if the legal atrocity of the corporation had been more wisely conceived, and controlled.

Corporations mean capital can concentrate. Concentrated capital means financial power beyond what would "naturally" occur. Power corrupts, like nothing else does. Explains a whole lot in this crappy world, doesn't it?

David,

Excellent post again! I watch Fox news and listen to them whine about freedom of business and the constitution. They rally for support by proclaiming if you allow government to interfere with business you the people will lose your rights and America will dissolve into nothingness. This assertion is designed for the left/right paradigm--both of which are BS.

There is nothing more American than THE PEOPLE demanding a group of elite multinational corporations to start being fair to the people and holding these corporations responsible for the impact their corporations do to our society. Tariffs are a good place to start but it should not stop there. Bring back corporate contract laws which allowed the people to shut down a multinational corporation that provides no benefit to the American people.

Okay. Are you in corporate prison, too? If not, then how have you gotten out of it, or how did you never get into it in the first place? I'd like to be able to guide my children through this sort of thing.

I completely agree with this. One of the most aware threads I have seen.

The sad thing is, to change anything you would have to start over. Putting up laws are easy, changing or getting rid of them aren't. America isn't Socialist, if we where Socialist we would be in control of the corporations. The thing is, in America, the corporations are in control of us.

When presidents get funded by some of the richest corporations in America, that tells you how screwed up our system is. One a politician gets signed on at one of the biggest media outlets in the nation, that also tells you how screwed up we are.

America is one of the richest nations in the world. Do you see that spread out in between the citizens, or do you see that in the hands of the biggest multinational corporations in the world? Are you aware that the pay check of the high ranked workers in those corporations makes many times what you do? Do you realize that they are the reason this country is so "rich", yet the majority of citizens so poor?

I remember seeing this comic on the internet the other day. It shows a picture of a women walking, and 2 other men walking, and a homeless man sitting by a wall asking for spare change. It showed a picture above the woman's head, -10,000 student loans, over the man's head -2,000 or so, and -20,000 over the other's head. Want to know what it said over the homeless man's head? +$2.73. Really got me thinking, I just wish I could find it now. If anyone knows where this is, post it up for me.

Feels good to get these thoughts off my chest. I've been thinking about this a lot lately for some reason. Good to see someone on the same brain wave.

If you want to do some kind of example, I would say Communism is extremist Socialism, and Corporatism is extremist Capitalism. Maybe this works in my head different than another's...

Phylnx, that was an awesome picture you painted of the homeless guy!

Reminds me of this financial advice guru who used to use a similar tactic in his presentations. He would ask the crowd, "Can you afford a beater (automobile)?" The usual reaction was, WT_F? But then, he went around asking about people's cars, and guess what, hardly anyone really "owned" anything, rather, they OWED, they had a car payment.

Anyway, you mention Socialism, and Communism. These may not be what you (or the average person) thinks. Is it just "economics" here? Well, for those who get a chance, find a copy of Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto. In it, he gives us a checklist so we can gauge the incremental progress of communism, as it is established in a nation. Referred to as the "planks" of Communism, the USA at this late date has essentially embraced them all. by that measure, the US has become history's most powerful communist nation.

Regarding Socialism, there is yet another term to explore, since the most relevant modern "socialism" is in fact a subset that is referred to as "Fabian" Socialism. It's one to look up in some spare time, but it will explain a whole lot about what we see today.

And then there's "Capitalism"! The thing is, all of these things can be considered "bad", from many angles, but sad to say, it's really too late. The entire world suffers from all three of these "isms" to a great degree. The mistake people often make is that they are somehow mutually exclusive. Wouldn't that be nice!

In fact, to the extent that any "system" departs from those "natural laws" that for the most part already govern people (from our "internal programming" we might say), the system is probably more "bad", then good.

So then, what would be "good", concrete example? Probably one of the best real, historical examples might be the early USA. What was that system called? Actually, we don't have to make it an "ism" at all. The real issue was never "economic" in today's usual sense of that term. It was actually the proper role of government that was the issue.

What is the proper role of government? Today, this would be a real head-scratcher for most people, and if they found it on the mid-term exam, they would be in trouble!

But this could get real long. I guess I should wind it up and let others jump in too, and maybe I'll come back later to see what other people think about these things.

Thanks for a great thread idea OP, I hope others also see the value in discussing these timely matters.

Good post David.

It’s not that private ownership is a bad thing; it’s when most of everything is owned by an entente of the few, and protected by governments, that makes private, corporate-led globalization of markets miasmatic to all other life forms and the US government, with her perfidious politicians, has lead in this defense of this Cartel, beginning sometime after President Lincoln’s assassination.

And it’s not just democrats, it’s the entire political system that is like a cancer. Republicans/Democrats are just different sides to the exact same coin. Given to the people to complete the illusion that we have a choice. there is no choice really, both parties work for the same boss, they just call themselves different animals.

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/5803ef481372.jpg[/atsimg]

When a country allows the politicians to take “contributions” (bribes) from large corporations, essentially the government has been sold to the highest bidders (the corporations).

Suppose a person contributes $100. and the ABC Company contributes $75,000 (Like BP did to Obama) where do you think that politician’s loyalties are going to lie?

Essentially our government was bought out a long time ago. We are no longer a country run for the people and by the people.

Unfortunately, those of us stuck deeply into the media’s carefully engineered left/right paradigm have no desire to be objective, and are thus blinded to all truth that does not reinforce biased opinions.
So, instead of using safe, non-toxic ways to gather up the rogue oil gushing from their incompetence, or their planned cataclysm, this private Cartel of oligarchs is using an extreamely toxic chemical dispersant (Corexit).

In a New York Times article by Paul Quinlan, BP is using a dispersant with the trade name of Corexit, even though alternative dispersants have been shown to be far less toxic, and in some cases nearly twice as effective.
And even though scientists have warned that Corexit could cause long-term harm to marine life, BP has ordered almost a million more gallons of the deadly dispersant from Nalso, a company with whom BP enjoys a cozy relationship.

Our own EPA data ranks Corexit as being 20 times more toxic, and far less effective in handling southern Louisiana crude than some other dispersants. (Probably ones made by companies that didn’t give Obama campaign money / you think?)

I say we make the head honchos at BP and our Senators and Congressment go down there and clean this frap up without respirators.

The fishermen that have been hired to clean up this mess will die within 20 years of being exposed to the oil and with exposure to Corexit who knows the ramifications on both their health and DNA.

Start researching the workers that cleaned up the other oil leaks, most only live 20 years and have severe health problems for those 20 years.

Source for quoted material: www.youtube.com...

The BP Oil Gusher (It's not a spill) - and how it is being handled may wake a few more people out there up as to who is really calling the shots.

The most ironic aspect of the Corporate empire is our total and complete dependency on them for our every need. It is highly amusing that today we will be celebrating our independence but all of our food will be provided to us by a third party to whom we could not function without.

Our past agrarian societies prior to the Civil War, when people actually had the skills necessary to sustain themselves, have been traded for total dependency upon Corporations to live. We are no longer taught the skills of our fathers, we do not know how to take care of ourselves, and that is the truest tyranny of this system. Instead we look for employment to make the money to buy the necessities of life that our ancestors knew how to provide for themselves.

Especially today in 2010 an agrarian society updated with modern technology would be brilliant.

Yeah, the world is really grim these days. I wonder if we are at a point in history equal to the suffering of The Great Depression? I think we some times lose sight of the fact that humanity has gone through some devastating periods where people experienced far worse torment than we are experiencing now.

On a side note...

I used to wonder why Jesus said... Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

He said this in the last minutes of His life on earth.

I wonder if it relates to our present period of time on earth. It may seem like God has forsaken us but, like Jesus, He will raise us from the dead.

Just a thought.

Happy 4th of July!

Democrats are socialists and communists. They want the government to be their NANNY and take care of them while only the Elite among them prosper and profit. They control the poor and the weak with social programs designed to keep people down instead of allowing them to be lifted up.

Republicans are freedom lovers and Capitalists. They believe everyone has the right to be what they want to be in the scheme of things meaning that if you want to be a millionaire, you can be. They don't like big government and like to control Corporations through laws.

Truth is they're all crooks and con men. Our government is corrupt to its core and no one gives a damn about it or is willing to do what is necessary to change it.

Even most conspiracy theorists are complete sheep, just like everybody else they try to make fun of or put down.

In some ways this is nothing new: for example look at all the ridiculous threads that have no substance or merit, but some over the top theme, complete with "ZOMG! Sun about to blow up!! Extinction level event!!! AMAZING VIDEO" title.

These threads almost automatically get flagged straight to the front page because of their oversensational bullsh** nature. And of course this is the exact same methodology mainstream media employs to get more viewers and higher ratings.

But the sad thing is here at ATS it's a complete democracy. It's user generated - and the people choose what's most popular and most relevant. So even on a site that pleads for them to deny ignorance, more often than not they simply choose to celebrate it.

Now when you take that mentality and combine it with all the political grandstanding floating around these days it becomes such a dangerous combo. The sheep just gravitate to the biggest loudmouth spewing the most hyperbole about how so-and-so is "out to get you!" they don't ever bother actually trying to stop and think about what that loudmouth is saying and who's agenda they might be pushing.

So the next thing you know - you have all these sheep who are rushing to the parade to fight their own freedom, defend their own slavery, denounce science and logic and critical thinking and uphold all the values that keep them such stupid sheep in the first place.

If you ask me people this dumb simply deserve what they get.

But of course it's an absolute crime that the rest of us end up getting dragged down with them.

The world is the way it is for two reasons:

1. There is a very small (otherwise insignificant) amount of evil, greedy, manipulative people who are hellbent on achieving unrivaled amounts of wealth and power.

and

2. There is a very large number of stupid sheep who completely enable them and allow them to achieve what would be otherwise impossible.

First off, I agree with you on the prison they have forced on us "little folks".

But...I think you are singing a bit too loudly about this being a subject ignored here on ATS, or anywhere really.

There are literally millions of people doing what they can to bring this to the attention of people. Heck, I have been aware of this basic fact for decades and this site endlessly makes the same thoughts "front page".

I think you are listening to the "dumber ones" when you speak of people "unaware" of this.

For the most part, most of us here already know this. In fact, if this was a lesson in "conspiracy school", it would be remedial.

So...in short...I agree with your views on our slavery.

I disagree with you thinking this is some "unseen fact".

I'm organizing hundreds of people across 4 countries, speaking endlessly on these facts you bring here, and have been dedicating half my life and all of my sanity to trying to make the "bumbling folks" snap out of it and smell the coffee.

I see you are writing a rant...

Well...in the end, I hope you are doing more to save us all.

Rants can't fill a pair of pants.

Thanks for your time, but you have taught me nothing all the while sharing no real "factual details" for those who are "still not hearing this".

Work harder...get out there and speak loudly.

A thread saying corperatations are evil is hardly wave making material in a crowd like the one we have here.

Hell...I was ranting about this in the early 80s...

Thanks for reading...

If you made it that far.
