Ok some of you may have heard but on July 11th, 2010 there will be a...

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE!

Now many of you enjoy astronomy.

I am planning on making a video of the eclipse.

Then I will post it here.

(Mind you I won't be looking at the eclipse I will be turned around with the camera behind me.)

I also want you guys, if you have any, to post pictures of the lunar eclipse, which was on June 27th, 2010 at 3:45 am.

I would like to see the pics that you guys have so hurry up and post pictures.

Where are you at? From the NASA web site it looks like it will not be seen from the US at all.

I think your going to need a boat to get good footage of this, or you could catch the end of it with a long drive down to the tip of south america, if your keen.

Its path passes right through my home city of Brisbane exept it will not be dawn yet at the time it passes over.

Edit, actually the total solar eclipse path (marked by the dot) wouldnt have passed through brisbane, only the partial path marked by the grey area.

Why on Earth would you want to do that? If you have the chance to see one of nature's most spectacular events (and if you're in the USA, you have zero chance of seeing the 2010 eclipse), you really should be looking at it with your own eyes!

Hah, I suppose one might judge that a fair tradeoff.

A tradeoff it is though. There's still plenty of ultraviolet light coming at you, and what's more, your eyes become "adjusted" to darker conditions, therefore your pupils expand, taking in even more ultraviolet light. Looking directly at eclipses is supposedly very dangerous.

At least that's what all the adults said when I was 9 and there was an eclipse.
