BP is just Being Pawned in the great game of chess. It doesn't matter if they exist or not as a company. A pawn moved, what is the response and
outcome? Just like the 70's oil crisis, just a different scenario. What is the bigger picture than oil on beaches that needs cleaned up and
ecosystems destroyed? This isn't an agenda to send another man to the Moon. It took years of planning to do that.
An executive decision would rally the available resources to combat the problem. So why haven't other oil companies been encouraged to work with BP
to expidite a solution?
With the extreme pressure of the escaping oil, a gradual reduction in a multi stage cap should work. Just like slowing a 10,000 ton freight train, it
needs to be done gradually. Increasing pressure on top of the broken pipe over a peroid of time will enable the flowing oil to slow down and stop
without causing new breaks to appear.
A solid rod of steel which is tapered could be lowered into the pipe gradually. This would restrict flow and slow it down as it is lowered. Finally
as it closes off the diameter of the inside pipe the momentum of the escaping oil is slow enough that it will not breach thru another section of the
pipe.
Now that the broken pipe is capped, the resivoir of oil can be re-drilled into for proper collection. This is nesessary, because the capped pipe at
the bottom of the ocean will corrode until it springs a leak once more.
