Why is America fooled by Sarah Palin???

I read some of her facebook postings

and you would not believe the amount of garbage she spews.

this is a woman, who took an oath to serve the people of Alaska and QUIT on them to go and make money.

Yet the far right in this country idolizes a quitter.

She get's paid 100,000 dollars for every speech.

she promotes abstinence for schools, instead of real education when she cannot even control her own family.

in the midst of this oil disaster, she has the nerve to talk about doing MORE drilling. these greedy oil mongers just refuse to understand the dangers of doing this.

further more it is amazing to me, that someone who claims to be a staunch believer in god, would promote raping his planet of all it's resources after such a catastrophe. If one is willing to put faith.....not proven facts or logic, in god, then surely they want to protect his creation?

No they don't. she and people like her view the earth as a raping ground, who cares if we mess it up right? god will come and sprinkle fairy dust to fix all the damage done.

Its just as perplexing to me as it is to you. The woman has no redeeming qualities and certainly doesn't have a grasp on the complex issues facing this nation. She's a sign of how much of a farce our political system in the US has become, more a reality TV contest than something serious that will decide our fate.

She's not even competent on a base level and I feel that our opposition to her is what causes her rabid fan base to become even more enthralled with her. They are reacting to us calling her out for what she is, an incompetent buffoon.

I could say the same thing about Obama.

Love her or hate her, most people aren't "fooled" by her. They either love what she has to say or hate it.

When push comes to shove, the large majority of Americans have either no opinion on political, economic, or global policy or have one that is almost entirely superficial.

They do not pay attention, read, learn, or generally care other than debating in the exact same style given to us via soundbite media and bumper sticker politics.

Being conservative, I hate Sarah Palin, but then again I read books of substance, so I'm in the extreme minority.

Hey dont say about her that she cant serve people.
She will make a good CORN(You know what) movie star. She can earn more money too. Some famous cornhouse directors should request her.

I don't think anyone is fooled by her. There are a lot of folks who believe what she says and agree with her.

I personally like her because she so inflames the left. I would not vote for her to run a hotdog stand, but I love the way she enrages the MSM and socialists running this country.

Because a lot of you yanks love a bit of tub thumping patriotic lingo, whcih she delivers in an easy on the eye package.

Hey I hate Obama to, the fact that he wont prosecute torture, and continues to expand government power is disgusting, the gall of this guy to allow the mexican president to come on our capital and demonize america, and then in the midst of the oil spill laughing it up with marv albert makes me sick

I don't know why people have gravitated to her either. To be honest I think a lot of people voted for Obama because they figured Palin had a good chance at becoming pres. considering McCain's age. And as bad as things are now, I can't imagine with her in office.

Women jumped on her bandwagon the same way some people did with Obama. We had never had a woman run for president nor had we had an African American run. They both try to emit a down to earth "common man" stance and that's why I think she's become this sort of pseudo icon. It's more celebrity status than leader status anymore and it's getting worse. People are treating these politicians like messiahs.

It's not just Palin, it's every politician now a days.

It's not really insulting her family or daughter.

It's an irony that she preaches one thing, yet can't control it in her own home.

to me it's a weak argument to say we're insulting her family by pointing out Palins own hypocrisy here.

We are evolving and there is a Neanderthal and Homo Sapien moment going on, we are walking the Earth together, hopefully the extinction of this type of brain dead animal will come soon.

nope. her own family demonstrably illustrates the failure of her own supposed beliefs/policies. do you think prior to her daughter's pregnancy, if you asked palin if she desired for her teenage daughter to become impregnated by some n'er-do-well palooka from the sticks, she would have jumped up and down with affirmative glee? no, of course she would have said "no!"

most people have a problem with hypocrisy. if you live in a glass igloo up in wasilla, alaska, probably best to refrain from throwing snowballs with rocks inside them.

don't promulgate abstinence when, assuming that's the policy you used in your own family, it doesn't work. best to keep your lipsticked flapper closed!

Sad but true. i have this arguement with my mother all the time, shes a staunch sarah palin advocate and i see right through the charade. its actually at the point now where niether of us ever purposefully bring her up any more. i think thats part of the strategy though, if they can keep us argueing over petty things like this how can we ever unite and fix the real problems....

A lot of friends support women such as Palin and Coulter simply because they piss off so many on the Socialist left, who themselves support women such as Pelosi and Boxer. They feel it's just fair play on their part to give back to the left what they've been giving them all these years.

After spending three years in the deep South (from the West coast) I have a whole new perspective on why people like Sara Palin are so poplular. I think a lot of it has to do with people are able to relate to her. She speaks their language, uses small words and speaks to the issues that these people care about (whether she even believes them or not is another issue). They dont CARE that she quit her position as govenor, they rationalize things like that away and only see what they want to see.

Of course I could say the same thing about a lot of Obama supporters as well. I used to be big Obama supporter but have come to realize that he is no better than Bush except for a few issues. I certaintly wont vote for him again.

I'm gonna take an educated guess and say that you don't have kids. You cannot "control" your children, particularly teenagers. All you can do with your children is try to instill good values and hope they follow through. Did you ever do anything that your parents told you not to, or were you the only perfect angel ever to make it out of their teen years?

See this is why Palin supporters are so great. They counter an argument with an argument that counters an argument Palin has.

So if parents, the ones solely responsible for raising and instilling values into their children are not capable of getting their kids to accept the stupid idea of abstinence then why should we think that schools around the nation (because when it comes to kids listening to people, they surely listen to the schools) will do any better?
