I left school for work in Thatchers Britain, with most of my school friends on the YTS (Slave labour)..
Hell, I was on Y.O.P. which preceeded YTS!
Rather than employment or YTS, there si an alternative that no-one ever considers.
IF you check out the history of large corporations, you will find that huge numbers were founded by kids. For instance, Heinz was founded by Mr.
Heinz who was 15 at the time.

For pity's sake, how many are going to grow up and start a multi-million pound business?
1 in a million or billion?
What happens to the rest of the poor sod's?
Be realistic!
Instead of YTS or flipping burgers for Macdonalds why don't they go chimney sweeping.
Or perhaps they could go down the mines...oh that right, Thatcher shut them all down.
How about the shipyards, yeah, she closed them as well.
What about the steel yards, mills and foundry's...forgot, she shut them too.
In fact she either shut or sold off nearly every possible place someone could learn a trade.
And guess what?
They were all traditional (Old) Labour strongholds.
And what option did they have.
You got it...The Benefit System!
Yes, the Benefit System is outdated is has long ceased being the temporary crutch and helping hand that it was intended to be.
Yes, it needs radical reform and professional management.
But so many people were forced into it, there simply was no other option because there were or are no jobs!
The socialist have brainwashed everyone into thinkg that "hoodies: are a threat that can only be fixed by keeping them in school which is often
ttotally inappropriate, until 18 and finding them a job serving Big Mac's/
You display anger and disgust at people who aren't prepared to work for the pitiful minimum wage then ridicule people for working at Macdonalds?
Hypocrisy!
And maybe, just maybe, it's the only job they can get but bacause of their own self-pride they want to work!
I actually know a University Graduate who is working at KFC because he can't get anything else.
There simply are no jobs anywhere around here thank to the incompetencies and sheer greed of both the Labour and Conservative parties!
You can't solely blame Labour for the shambles that is our education system!
I left school in '82 and it was a complete joke then!
And guess who was in power, you got it in one, The Tories!
Maybe Labour should have done better, but standards have improved, unfortunately the education is aimed at producing socially compliant drones unable
to question anything or think independantly and whose sole purpose is to meet the mediocre tasks for our mediocre society!
What is a disgrace that for those who can afford it there is a far better level of education available.
Of course I don't blame anyone for taking advantage of it, it is only natural and I would probably have done the same if I had been in that
situation.
But the fact that there is such a massive gulf in standards in this day and age is a national disgrace.
The socialist "philosophy", a warped blend of vicious tosh and prejudice from a sick mind, will not consider helping teens to consider life as an
entrepreneur, running their own shop or business and the basis of running a company.
Nonsense, there will always be those who are inclined to the entrepreneurial lifestyle.
But if the banks won't lend money most people don't have much chance.
It was ok for them to get baled out by the taxpayer's though.
Those bastards should be put up against a wall and shot along with nearly every current politician!
And even when they were lending their charges were extortionate.
In Canada, they have an alternative to "Hobseeker's Allowance" where they give you a lower amount of cash and for a more limited time, but lead you
by the hand through the process of forming a company and provide free seminars and access to experts on how to run your own company.
Courses like that are ten a penny.
But they are pointless if the indivdual hasn't the skills, idea's or ability to run their own business.
And if there is no market at the moment what chance is there of success?
Labour have not helped this country as much as it should have during their years in government and sold a lot of us down the river.
But to blame them for all this country's ill's is naive and displays a blinkered, dogmatic viewpoint on things.
No single party is solely to blame, and no single party or idealogy has all the answers.
The current party political system is outdated and offers little hope for the future.
We need radical reform of our electoral and parliamentary systems aimed at ensuring accountability of eleccted representatives who put their own
belief and the interests of their constituents before the party line.
The Tory Party are going to decimate this country with their cuts and are going to blame it all on the previous administration when the reality is far
more complicated.
