Today, the Buckminster Fuller Institute announced the winner of its 2010 Challenge: Allan Savory, who has spent the last 50 years refining and evangelizing for a method of reversing desertification that he calls "holistic management." The African Center for Holistic Management International, an NGO he helped found, will take home a $100,000 grant.

Hey ATS.

Here an article about using livestock or just big herbivores to re-green the deserts. It seems he is getting quite some results. Really good to see we can change the dry sand in a vast living green space.

He also has won a price so i think we are going the right way acknowledging projects like these.

Well, the explanation makes perfect sense. So there is a reason for all those huge herds of large game animals moving around from year to year, after all. Amazing how 1 big change in the ecosystem like that can cause such a slow long term negative effect.

The guy deserves a lot more than that prize, that's for sure.
