Jews to send Gaza blockade-buster ship

www.presstv.ir

A group of Jewish activists in Germany are preparing to send an aid ship to the Gaza Strip, which has been under an Israeli-imposed blockade for three years.

The group, which is the German branch of the European Jews for a Just Peace, plans to send the aid ship by the end of July.

"We want to break the Gaza occupation and end the occupation of the West Bank as well... we as Jews want to bring the Palestinians something other than bombs," Kate Katzenstein-Leiterer, a member of the executive committee of the group, said on Thursday.

It would seem that everyone and their mom is now sending relief ships to Gaza. It's a little rediculous but also great at the same time. Israel can't raid them all.

Another thing that makes this story interesting is that although the ship will only have 16 people on board, people from all over the world are trying to reserve a seat on this ship. I understand helping the Palestinians and all but would you really go so much out of your way to get onto a ship that may already be doomed? It's not as if the mission wouldn't be completed without you.

Anyway, I guess it's good over-all and I commend these Jews. After all, it is in our name that this horrbile situation in Gaza is being done.

Hello,
Thanks for putting a smile on my face!
I've been hoping Jews would stand-up against them (Slur) Zionists! That's just what it's going to take for the rest of the world to take notice of what is actually ruling the State of Israel. Zionists claiming to be Jews. The Jews on the aid ship I dare conclude will be used as an example of "Traitors of the faith," or some filthy deceit in the like, and will be "eliminated", to further whatever despicable plans in store.

I've been watching for the scene where Israel commits an atrocity the world will align against her over. I'm just babbling, sorry. I don't have my facts straight. I wish foresight was like hindsight; 20/20.

I will not be pleased in the slightest if a single hair on a Jewish head on that ship gets touched. That's for clarification for the Zionists who want to cry foul...

Those Anti-Semitic... Jews?

Zionism does not equal Judaism, and this is a fine example. The Israeli government will keep showing their collective rear-ends and the rest of the world will continue one by one to turn their backs on them.

Even some Israeli's looking to join up? Better check to make sure there are no Mossad credentials on them first. Though to be fair, Jewish people that want peace and are against the regime generally receive a bit of a harsh attitude from others that do not share their sentiments, so that is probably an intolerant opinion, but one that needs to be looked at still.

Be careful Israel, the world is watching what you do.

Lets see how Israel plays this hand. Now they have fellow Jews coming to break the blockade.

Perhaps the Iranian navy would escort them. Surely the IDF wouldn't fire upon Iran and risk injuring any of the Jewish Activists...That would just be so un-Israel like =o /imagination

Good thread, but why must they wait six weeks...

The attention span of the sheeple is less than six hours...

They should go now, before the World Cup starts...

From your link,

Twenty international activists were killed in the deadly assault and 50 others were injured in the incident.

Was it twenty or nine????

I keep hearing different stories..

No doubt these protesters will be labeled as self loathing Jews by the Zionists. I agree with another member that suggested that they should be setting sail now. These protests need to strike while the iron is hot.

I'm sure they aren't setting sail now because their is a lot of logistics that need to be worked before a trip such as this. You need to make sure that you have all of your ducks in a row because they are going to be under close scrutiny. Also, if they were to go now, the world would get sweaped up in the World Cup, leaving this aide ship without the popular support of the world, which is their only safety net. Wouldn't you rather them wait until after the biggest sporting event in the world? That way, if something happens, it won't be forgotten about due to the sporting event. Regardless, I support their plan to wait, if only for logistical reasons.

I guess the main thing is that they aren't going to let this go away. So... whether it's now or in six weeks, I'm just happy that someone is doing something about it. The illegal blockade needs to be pressured to the point of collapse.

Lets just say that they go now, without fulling vetting the crew members. When or if the Israelis strike, they could easily claim that 'x' crew member had ties with terrorism because his ex-girlfriend's brother in law once gave money to a charity that was suspected of doing business with a company that was accused of employing a terrorist at one time.

Also, the logistics, including funding. They need to make sure that they get all of the supplies necessarry and it's not just consisting of going to Wal-Mart. We have to remember that the main purpose here is to deliver supplies to Gaza, supplies that are badly needed to sustain life. That is the main focus here, not giving Israel another black-eye. The purpose here is Gaza, not Israel.

They have planned this since 2008 going by your link...

Surely the crew of 16 has been screened by now...

No excuses, move in....

Its good to see them step up and do the right thing as well..
As to people wondering why it takes so long to set sail is that it takes time to plan , organise and properly prepare for the voyage.

This is a great thing. This what we need worldwide.

Americans need to stand against their government that is killing worldwide in their names.

Muslim countries need to stand against the fanatics inside their country giving them a bad name.

Everybody in the world need to stand against the atrocities in their name when they really dont like what is being done.

While I get the glee that all of those opposed to Israel are feeling as a result of a group of Jews wanting to make a gesture of protest against the Israeli government...I don't get that this is particularly significant, or necessarily indicative of how the majority of Jews feel about the issues involved here.

So, if a few Americans decide to go overseas and train to come back and kill fellow Americans, does it mean that Americans want to overthrow their government? Not likely.

If some Greenpeace members from Canada join the seal hunt protest, does that mean that Canadians in general oppose the hunt? Not necessarily.

I would speculate that there are far more non-Jews in the world who support Israel...than there are Jews who oppose Israel.

Anyway, I hope they have a good time on their trip. And I hope that they realize that their religious affiliation will in no way affect the reception they get if they try to run the blockade. They will be stopped.

This is a national security issue, in the minds of the Israelis. If a boatload of Americans...or penguins...try to break the blockade they will get the black helicopter treatment too.

The reason why it is different for Jews, is because Israel and pro-Israel activists always seem to label those who are against Israel, as anti-semites. You can't really make that claim against Jews, in the context in which it is used by Israel. You aren't considered a racist if you say something against Americans. Also, a lot of this killing and genocide is done in the name of Judaism so it is important to show that many more Jews are against Israeli policies regarding Palestine, than support those policies.
