A law would not prevent it, but it could help

How much do you worry about things that were illegal in some other time period? Do you ask your wife to not vote because it was illegal 100 years ago?

Are you _____ing kidding me?

We can't even manage to keep the privacy we are supposed to have NOW?

What in the world makes you think we'd be able to even fathom enforcing such a "law"?

Personally, I'd rather worry about WHAT WE'D regret (like what privacy we have LEFT), rather than what our descendants think about our primate-like habits.

They would KNOW we were primates, and history is doing nothing but providing the evidence they'd need to take that for granted; they'd simply expect such behavior.

What in the world have you done that you're so worried about what people think about you after your worm food?

Perhaps what should embarrass us is the FACT that we are LETTING them take our...lol...privileges. THAT is something worth the embarrassment.

That's quite an idea

Reminds me of a short SF story from 1951 by John Wyndham

Pawley's Peepholes sees time travelers from the future disrupting small town life by treating it as a quaint place to sight see.

If I remember it correctly they were able to travel through walls etc and observe folks at close quarters right in their own homes. It began with just the occasional visitor but soon swowballed into entire coachloads of sightseers (complete with the tour guide's annoying running commentary).

A bit like the coachloads of regular tourists I get here in my hometown & village every summer - "Gee it's so quaint"

I must read it again and see how it ended. I think the tourists disappeared as they discovered another 'latest fad' to enetertain themselves.

But, yes, it's something to think about

Chances are if time travel were possible as we think of it today a time traveler wouldn't actually be watching you as you know yourself because they wouldn't be able to travel back to the same universe. They'd be viewing a parallel universe. Actually... most likely they would be traveling back in time form a parallel universe (to our current position) their selves, and the probability of happening upon our universe out of the millions of possibilities is pretty slim.

I've always thought it would be really interesting trying to get back to the future. It seems if traveling back in time were possible if you were to try to travel back to the future you would be traveling to the future of the parallel universe you traveled back to.
