Hello finally, ATS community. I suppose this is my intro...even though I already have posted and created threads, I figured I should go the accepted route of delivering a formal meet and greet.

Ok, where to begin. I am an American male, in my mid 30's. I was born and raised in New York City, but left for warmer pastures about 8 years ago. My career is that of Chef and restaurant owner a far cry from my previous life as a high school history teacher.

I hold three college degrees in History, Archaeology, and Art History. I have avoided the Ancient Civ forum here for this very purpose...I can get very opinionated.

My family background is that of your typical upper-middle class Irish-American. I have relatives that run the gamut from Neurosurgeon to Police Officer to homeless drug addict, so I believe my perspective on the struggles and successes of the individual are not skewed in either direction.

I am accepting of all peoples of all kinds...unless they give me reason to be not.

As far as my ATS interests..
.
Here are my "I DO's":

I do believe in Alien Life and UFO's, though I have never seen a saucer or met an EBE.

I do believe strongly in my country, though sometimes it's citizens can disappoint me.

I do believe in the power of technology, though it can corrupt the feeble minded.

I do believe there are nefarious people in power all over the world, though I do not necessarily buy into the NWO or Illuminati conspiracies.

I do believe secret bases contain all sorts of fantastical toys, bells, and whistles, though I wish they would be brought to light.

I do believe in the power of community, especially of the ATS community, though some people are entirely too closed minded and one dimensional.

And here are my "I DONT's":

I do not believe 911 was anything other than a heinous act of terrorism committed by a foreign organization who may or may not had help from one or more Islamic countries.

I do not believe how some posters have the gall to make accusations like "no plane hit the trade center"...seeing I was standing 2 blocks away and watched in horror, and my father was in the building at the time of impact.

I do not believe how some posters are so unwilling to accept being wrong.

I do not believe in prophecy since there are far too many variables occurring simoultaneously to ever accurately predict the future.

I do not believe in getting into flaming wars with other posters, but I will defend my points and views until proven wrong.

I do not believe there will be a doomsday in 2012, however, we as a species do have a bad habit of making such things self-fulfilling.

Well this is me...or at least a small snipet of me for the purposes of this site. I look forward to meeting more of you and befriending many of you.

Until then...slainte.

Good to meet you comrade !!

Chef, restauranteur ??? You don't know how lucky you are, ... that's my dream job !! I love to cook.

... and for a guy who likes lifting weights, and kung fu, some people think thats odd, .. haha, but this isn't about me, its about you.

and I do agree about other poster's who never back off of a stance no matter how many times proven wrong, but instead of hate them we can only pitty the weak minded.

may your travels take you far and keep you well - Stella

Well follow that dream. If ever I may assist you in any way with your culinary journey do not hesitate to ask. Maybe we can start a kitchen conspiracy forum.

Thanks, that would be awsome.

I'm just not sure what route to take, there arent any culinary colleges nearby, I would have to relocate completely and everything that goes along with that. I have worked at a major hospital in the food service department, .... but I don't think that is anything like creating something new, from the heart, and having everyone rave about it. Food is love.

Chef, eh? Pretty good job IMO.

I'm with you on the whole 9/11 part and NWO crap. It gets pretty tiring actually. Most people when you talk about an election they just say, "So what TPTB decide it anyway". It gets pretty annoying. Oh and the Prophecy part, I think the whole biblical prophecy thing is either self fulfilling, was bound to happen, or is misinterpreted.

And when I am proven wrong I usually stop responding. I don't feel like digging myself into an even larger hole. I just did that the other day and I truly regret making those two threads.

As for political views I honor success, hard work, and integrity; but I also respect that people need equal footing and sometimes a hand up and society should be there for them. Society should make sure that everyone has what they need to succeed in life. That is why I am an Eco-socialist, being an environmentalist as well.

Anyways... Glad to finally meet you. I hope to see you around ATS sometime. I'm on a lot, recently I have been laying low so as to not say anything stupid and let the storm pass.

Edit: For spelling

Hello there, I also am an aspiring chef, to those who know me anyway, though we may disagree (not have the same opinions) on certain subjects I think a kitchen/chef forum would be great, we could exchange recipes, and have cool conspiracy name's from what ever ingredients are in them.

Like the conspiracies revolving the last supper/DiVinci code, and have a recipe with some sort of authentic bread of either the era, or location... with of course the best of wines. Just a thought, and again I hope you have as much fun here as I do, Ive learned so much here over the years, and though we may not all agree, we learn and educate.

I think there is some type of " Food " forum in BTS.

but BTS is a thread graveyard, a wasteland of sorts. I wish ATS would Join both ATS on BTS on the "recent threads" page.

Well I no longer live in NY, my home and business are here in the South East part of the country now (sorry for not getting overly specific, but I am sure you understand). I do have live music...on the weekends, but mainly piano bar stuff.

Too bad I cannot take u up on those beers. Maybe in another life.

I don't believe...

I do believe...

Until you have proof one way or the other you only have beliefs.

Don't steady your foot on beliefs. It is not solid ground.

Entertain opposing ideas and opinions. They might open some doors to the truth and proof that you seek.

Welcome to ATS.

Thanks to all the warm greetings from you all. ATS as a whole reminds me of one of my favorite lines from one of the great people of the 20th century...

This world of ours... must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect. ---Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1961.
