Sun Rips in 2 with huge Coronal Hole - Solar wind Incoming!

Coronal holes typically produce a high speed but low density solar wind stream. Their effects on geomagnetic activity are usually quite mild. The space weather forecast reflects this.

Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected with a chance for active periods on the third day (07 June) due to a coronal hole high-speed stream moving into geoeffective position.

"Active" is the term used for below storm level geomagnetic activity.

If you're talking about Galaxy 15, the exact reason it lost control isn't known but it did occur during a fairly strong geomagnetic storm (Kp 7) on April 5. That event was caused by a CME from a sunspot which occurred on April 3, not coronal holes.

So its a wait and see if anymore are knocked out by this, or is this capable of doing any damage to our satellites? We only have so many up there.

I also find it interesting that it was knocked out of its orbit but was still functioning, hopefully it didn't reveal a flaw in our engineering...

Hmmm our electronics survived but we failed to keep em in orbit, or the correct orbit.

im sorry but i think this whole sun stuff is way too much paranoia.. god created the universe and everything in it.. he knows whats.going on and controls the sun. so dont worry about it we will be fine we got bigger things ahead

Grant WTF you're scaring the pss out of everyone. I just looked at the Sun through my welders mask and I don't see two pieces. I'm very disappointed in you as a truth seeker right now. I still flagged you for a great practical though.

Man that is a negative. And from someone I think of as simalar to an elder.
I had to give him the practical nod, cause I felt like an idiot with the nieghbors looking at me, looking at the sun, with my welders mask on. On the front lawn no less.

Awesome event and picture. However, a fluctuation in the suns magnetic field is hardly "splitting in two".

Chill with the over exaggerated title! The sun has not ripped in two!

I'm completely interested in this and will definitely keep an eye on this because it is so amazing but it didn't rip in 2!

What peaks my interest in this corneal hole is the size and how the solar winds will impact the earth.
