Ok I know I have posted a few of these.
I went to the window for a ciggy, and saw a contrail.
But it is going straight down, and seems to twist at the end.
Just noticed it seconds ago.

Here it is :

Larger file :

Will upload more later...
Seems to be going downwards in the area of the Pentlands in Edinburgh.

Hmm strange, I wonder if it was going up or coming down?

Did you hear a crash or anything?

Check the news for a plane crash.

Looks like a normal aircraft contrail to me. They can be deceptive depending on the angle you see them from. There are several in this picture but you get the idea

Yeah I get that.
But that contrail leads right to a mountain.

If it was a chemtrail and not smoke from something burning, lets hope it did indeed crash.

if it came down, it fell behind the pentlands.
If it went up, it came from behind the pentlands

The airport is west from me, this was south east east ishh
and it seems to twist at the bottom

Lots of airports south of the Pentlands

I agree, it can look odd, but I am certain it's just an aircraft flying up from the south.

I am looking at the Pentlands right now and I can see a contrail but nothing that would make me think something had fallen down over there and as far as contrails go it looks pretty innocuous.

I am looking directly at the ski slope right now therefore it would be helpful if you could give a location even generally where this contrail may have touched down? I ask because my daughters and I (plus a neighbour) watched a UFO fly low over us on the 7th of last month before heading off towards the Pentlands in the general direction of the ski slope so you are definitely piquing my interest.

I would say as far west of the pentlands as you could go.
perhaps even just past.
I am looking from Parkgrove right over the top of corstorphine with that picture.
if you know the area, you will understand.

here is a map of where I was and where I seen this

It might be nothing, But I cant remember seeing a place going that way..

I am toward Costorphin and I recall that there was a contrail passing over the Pentlands and it was heading north. I never saw a plane of course and the contrail was ragged and beat up by the time your thread caught my attention but by the looks of it, time correlation and your location compared to my location then I would think that the contrail you saw was the same as the one I saw that streaked over the Pentlands heading north?

Hopefully I am wrong, I live not far from the Pentlands and the idea of a UFO landing over there just has my stomach doing flip flops.

I want to be wrong I just need a flimsy excuse to go hiking all over that boggy hill

Just to point out that contrails only happen at height, an aircraft landing or crashing will not leave a contrail all the way down to the ground - they may leave a smoke trail though.

Sounds like is a high level aircraft and from your perspective the contrail is disappear over the horizon.

How about a stunt-plane doing a practice dive?

It's pretty cool that there's other people from Edinburgh on here.
