Ronald Reagan's face could one day adorn the $10 bill or half the dimes minted in the country, if fans of the late president get their way.

erasing the founding fathers off these american bills...

i am shure that americans are only able to remember who the founding fathers were by looking at money...

now, americans will not remember who founded this country...

Unless you have one of those neat lil' rulers with all the presidents on the back....

Young Americans learn about the founding fathers in school, or Older Americans learn about the founding fathers in order to pass the citizenship test.

Lets leave the greenbacks for those who founded the country or saved the world.

That's how the money is now, with the exception of the gold dollar, but who really uses that anyways lol.

I see nothing wrong with issuing say a special edition limited Regan coin, like say all the quarters struck at one mint for one month would be Regan Quarters but lets not change the current money for any long terms.

I think that the primary reason the cons want Regan on the dime is to get FDR off it. They can't stand looking at his liberal, almost-socialist, yet oh so world-saving face whenever they need to buy a candy bar.

Well Republicans, I'll make a deal with you, one of your boys saves the world, and I mean really saves like the world, meaning the world would be radioactive dust or oppressed by Nazis or something, and we'll put your man on some money.

Until then, just be happy that people like FDR and JFK were around to save the world, and give em the respect they are due.

Reagan in fact saved the world, much more than JFK ever started to. However, that has nothing to do with the issue at hand.

Replacing one of the Founding Fathers with Reagan, or any other later president is not acceptable.

AS far as the young learning about the Founding Fathers, if this place is any indication, I'd say the classrooms are doing a lousy job with the history. Oh, they are doing swell with the revisionism, but not real history.

Again, Replacing any of the Evil White Men with any new president is totally out of the question!

My appologies for disagreeing with you TC, but Regan finished the work that JFK started. Without his mastery of the times, which included the Cuban Missle Crisis, we probably wouldn't be here. The Bay of Pigs was a debacle that he inherited. He established the line that was not to be crossed. All Regan did was spend the USSR into bankruptcy.

Well, if you lived though the worst of the Cold War you would know. It wasn't like it is today. Sorry A47 but you really don't know anything about this other than text books that may or may not be acurate. I lived though these times, we expected to be wiped out, at the drop of a hat. I could careless who is on the money as long as it spends the same. I don't like Reagan. He was an idiot but most of the founders were idiots as well so he'd be in good company. We've got slave owners on money so why the hell not?

As far as the Bay of Pigs, Kennedy made the decision to screw those people, that decision was nobody else's. Reagan continued no groundwork laid out by Kennedy, save Kennedy's tax cuts.

Saphie, I don't believe I've ever spoken to you this way before, but if you think the Founding Fathers were idiots, go find a nation created by whom you feel were geniuses. India, maybe? How about Uganda or Argentina. I've heard a lot of things incredibly screwey since coming to this place, but that was the loppiest of all. I don't know what you're drinking, but please, stick to beer, preferably home made brew! And eat a steak, the lack of animal protein is effecting you!!

So TC, you do have a relation to history, or did you live it? I did. As I said, Kennedy drew the line that was not to be crossed, the Cuban Missle Crisis. He achieved almost- peace, when the alternative was MASS-DESTRUCTION. The Bay of Pigs took place 2.5 months into Kennedy's administration. Do you think that a collosal disaster like that can be planned in less than 3 months? The millitary wouldn't try anything without total advanced knowledge, therefore, Kennedy inheirited it. See it anyway you want, or as you read it, I lived it. I don't give a shyte for political position, hell I'm not even American, I just know what the world was like then.

Exactly. There should be more thought put into issues and events than just one philosophy. There is more than 1 side to every incedent. Well said.

TC, This is the first time you've spoken to me this way...you better watch out cause I think I like it. Be assured, I would go against my nature in a second and eat a steak (rare even) if it meant the founders would have been better men. As for that home made brew--I think I'll stick to the imports my liver aint what it use to be!
