national debt $13 trillion dollars

i would like to think that everyone here is concerned with our national debt.

so how do we tackle this massive issue.

i know it will take more than any one thing to fix our current problem with owing other countries massive amounts of money.

basically i am creating this thread to see what ideas are out there and by people who are alot smarter than me.

my proposal is this: create a national lottery with all 50 states participating.

powerball and megamillions and state lotteries. make billions off the us populace.

the goal of this idea to to only pay the deficit and nothing else.

unlike raising taxes or adding the vat tax- people will be given a choice- which is something we do not have right now.


any thought of this idea will be greatly appreiciated: wether you think it will work or wont work........

What if the dollar crashes?
The money to buy these tickets will be worthless.

Only thing is that politicians will just decide to have more liberty and pile it up even more much much faster.

You got to retile the dirty broken floors before deciding your strategy to sell the house.

I think once the govt. is cleaned up completely(ya right) then your idea would be pretty good.

$13 trillion IS alot though

i agree with your assessments as well.

as long as things continue as business as usual it wouldnt work.

i also knew that there is a chance of the corruption as well as paying off other things.


way i see it our national debt is a clear and present danger to this country.

What happens when the interest on this debt reaches 90% of the entire US GDP annually?

Should happen soon, yet no one is prepared.

Everyone is watching an oil leak.

pay the debt or initiate a large scale controlled conflict to wipe the debt off?
