Turkey 'bombs Kurd targets' in Iraq

english.aljazeera.net

Mcnaught said: "This is one of the biggest strikes in the last two years.

"This was a very much larger strike than usual - almost 50 locations. And a day long attack involving all these fighter jets.

"It is hard to ascertain the damage given the difficult territory."

Kurdish groups have been able to benefit from instability in Iraq to find safehaven in northern Iraq from where they could launch attacks in Turkey.

We can assume that the latest intelligence that lead to this strike by Turkey, came from the US. I wonder if this latest "gift" is as a result to normalize relations with Turkey after Turkey has been awfully friendly with Iran. First Turkey set up their air defenses to protect both Syria and Iran from Israeli warplanes and then Turkey came to an agreement with Brazil and Iran over the latter's nuclear program.

Could this latest intelligence that lead to the strike be some sort of deal or gift, so that Turkey backs down away from Iran?
